Introduced in September, the iPhone 14 Plus features a 6.7-inch display like the iPhone 14 Pro Max, but lacks some higher-end features like ProMotion, the Dynamic Island, and a telephoto lens. The device effectively replaced the 5.4-inch iPhone 13 mini.

Alex Ovechkin scores 30th career hat trick in Capitals' 9-2 win over Montreal Canadiens - Russian Machine Never Breaks

Alex Ovechkin ended 2022 in style. The Capitals captain scored a hat trick against the Montreal Canadiens on New Year’s Eve.

The hatty came on Jake Allen and was Ovi’s 30th of his career.

The three-goal night gave Ovi 806 tallies in his career. He now trails Wayne Gretzky by 88 goals.

Goal 1

Ovi’s first goal, career goal no. 804, came at even strength in the second period. Ovi claimed an errant Habs pass and got into position near the crease. Eventually, Trevor van Riemsdyk sent a perfect sauce pass to Ovechkin for a one-timer. The goal made it 4-1.

Goal 2

Ovi’s second tally came from his office on the power play for career goal no. 805. He sent an 87 MPH one-timer past Allen after getting a pass into his wheelhouse from Erik Gustafsson. The third-period goal made it 6-2.

Goal 3

Ovechkin’s third goal, career no. 806, made it 9-2. Ovi made a power move down the left wing, shedding a Habs defenseman in the process, and scored on Allen in front of the net. That sent the hats flying onto the ice.

Ovechkin didn’t have much of a celebration with the game so lopsided.

Ovechkin, who scored a hat trick 18 days ago against the Chicago Blackhawks, now has the sixth most hat tricks in NHL history.

Ovi now has 26 goals, tying him for third in the NHL’s goals race. Only Connor McDavid (32) and Tage Thompson (27) have more. The Capitals’ captain is on pace for 54 goals this season.

Capitals fans would chant “We Want 10”, as in 10 goals, but they’d have to settle for nine goals and a hatty from the team’s greatest player.

The 4 best success tips CEOs shared this year—from Tim Cook to Delta’s Ed Bastian - CNBC

Every year, there's no shortage of valuable nuggets of wisdom shared by inspiring and influential leaders.

For all its ups and downs, 2022 was no different. Here are some of the best success tips that top CEOs shared this year.

Tim Cook, Apple CEO

For someone tasked with doling out a steady supply of business tips and leadership advice, some of Cook's best advice of 2022 ultimately came from a commencement speech delivered at Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C., where the entire student body is either deaf or hard of hearing.

In a speech translated into American Sign Language, Cook encouraged the graduating students to pursue a single decision-making tactic: Follow your own moral compass above all else.

It was this tactic, Cook said, that would lead to the most professional and personal success, adding it was a "sense of meaning" that drew him to Apple back in 1988.

“I know in my heart: Staying true to who you are and what you believe is one of the most important choices you can make. It will help you form better relationships. It will help you find more satisfaction in your work. And with a little luck and a lot of effort, it will help you build a more meaningful life.”

Cook also shared one of the easiest ways to identify your own moral code, which will help you develop "a deep understanding of who you are and what you believe." Picture an uncertain situation, and envision how you'd respond in a fully ideal world.

“When you imagine your future ... the question you should ask is not, ‘What will happen?’ but ‘Who will I be when it does?’ I hope you will be kind and compassionate ... I hope you will see there is wonder in being part of something bigger than yourself. And magic to be found in the service of others.”

Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, Feeding America CEO

Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, the CEO of Feeding America, knows the importance of giving back. While leading the largest hunger-relief organization in America, Babineaux-Fontenot has constantly been on the lookout for career advice that focuses on building a fulfilling life and career.

Back in March, Babineaux-Fontenot spoke with CNBC Make It about the best career advice she ever received — and it wasn't even directly shared with her.

Instead, it came from a 1970s essay: "The Servant as a Leader" by Robert K. Greenleaf, a former AT&T executive. In it, Greenleaf outlined a model for leadership that prioritized serving other people first.

Babineaux-Fontenot's main epiphany?

“Always assume good intentions of your co-workers, that people want to work together to do good.”

There's research to back up her takeaway. Assuming good intentions in others likely corresponds with reality: Research from Harvard University and the University of Pennsylvania found that people routinely underestimate how much others like them — and it can have a significant impact on workplace success.

Babineaux-Fontenot, for her part, says assuming the best in others has been nothing short of "transformative" in her own life and career.

“Now, I try to understand to the extent that I can how people are wired, then help to create environments where, however they define winning, we can win together — and we should all try to do that.”

Ed Bastian, Delta Air Lines CEO

Throughout the course of the pandemic, air travel has been at the forefront of Covid-era challenges — from flight cancellations to staffing shortages to increasing aggression from customers

It makes sense, then, that Delta CEO Ed Bastian would have a unique vantage point on effective leadership during disruptions, upheaval and general uncertainty.

At the start of 2022, Bastian sat down with Harvard Business Review editor-in-chief Adi Ignatius for a conversation about leading during a crisis, where he stressed the importance of staying close to your team throughout challenging times.

It’s easy when times are difficult to want to shy away when you don’t have the answers to the questions that you need. It’s never more important to be visible and let people know what you know and what you don’t know.

Beth Ford, Land O'Lakes CEO

Land O'Lakes CEO Beth Ford is no stranger to success.

Following leadership positions everywhere from PepsiCo to Scholastic, Ford's climb up the corporate ladder at Land O'Lakes has been peppered with milestones: Ford is Land O'Lakes' first female CEO in its over 100-year history, as well as the first openly gay woman to be a Fortune 500 CEO.

Yet for all her accolades, Ford told CNBC Make It the best career advice she ever received came from a conversation with her mom when Ford was just 11 years old.

Ford was "throwing a tantrum" about a problem she assumed her mother understood. Yet, as the middle child of seven siblings, Ford's concerns had been lost in the fray.

“So my mother turned to me and said, ‘If you want something, you should ask for it; I’m not a mind reader’ ... and I remember that moment so clearly.”

For Ford, the moment confirmed the importance of advocating for your own needs, which she still considers a crucial skill when building a career.

“Often, we think, ‘Nobody is going to see the good job I’ve done,’ or we’re scared to ask for help. Yet, if you do ask someone for help, or ask for what you want, people will reach out and give it to you.”

Software programmer arrested for using the old "Superman III/Office Space" trick - Boing Boing

I thought the shaving off of the tenths of a cent or whatever Richard Pryor's character in Superman III did is a lot more clever than any of the follow-ons, but a 28-year-old software programmer from Tacoma, Washington certainly gave it a whirl. The thing most surprising is that the criminal kept his crime organized on his laptop in an easy-to-find folder. White collar criminals keep making this mistake.

KOMO:

Ermenildo Castro, 28, of Tacoma, allegedly told detectives that he was inspired by the 90's movie "Office Space" when he devised a plan to divert customer fees from his employer, Zulily.com, into his own bank accounts.

According to court documents, Castro wrote software code that manipulated the online retailer's checkout page to send the shipping fees into his own account. The charges allege Castro netted $260,000 in stolen shipping fees.

Seattle police detectives said Castro also used his position as a software engineer to manipulate prices on Zulily to purchase approximately $41,000 in merchandise for 'pennies on the dollar'.

According to police, the company's cybersecurity staff found a document on Castro's laptop titled 'OfficeSpace project', which outlined Castro's scheme to 'cleanup evidence' by manipulating audit logs and disabling alarm logging. The theft began in February and by March the company had identified discrepancies in the shipping fees being charged to customers, an SPD report states.

Rainbow harvest salad and salmon nicoise salad recipes - GMA

As everyone gears up for 2023 one culinary duo is helping give home cooks a head start on some easy dishes to try in the year ahead.

Claudine Watt, a trained chef from London, and Dana Kotler are best friends and co-founders of a southern California-based boutique cooking school, Abundance + Co. They joined "Good Morning America" on Friday to share two recipes that will help start the new year with abundance in the kitchen.

The founders offered two salad ideas that use fresh, seasonal produce and are full of flavor and health benefits.

Rainbow Harvest Salad

Abundance + Co.

A rainbow salad with cabbage, radish and other fresh veggies.

Serves 4-6

Ingredients

For the Salad:

1/2 red cabbage, finely sliced

4 beets, scrubbed well and thinly sliced into rounds

3 carrots, peeled into ribbons with a vegetable peeler

2 apples, cored and quartered, and finely sliced

4 small radishes, thinly sliced

1 bunch of Italian parsley, chopped

1 pomegranate, seeded (optional)

1 cup of roasted hazelnuts

For the Anchovy Dressing:

3/4 cup extra virgin olive oil

4 anchovy fillets

1/4 cup lemon juice - juice of about 2 small lemons

1 tbsp honey

1 tsp Dijon mustard

1 clove garlic

1/2 tsp salt

Directions

Mix all the salad ingredients in a large bowl.

Blitz all the dressing ingredients in a blender or a food processor until smooth.

Dress the salad well and serve. This salad does particularly well if dressed in advance and is even good the next day! Dress at least 30 mins before eating. Pile the salad high onto a flat plate and serve.

Roasted Salmon Niçoise

PHOTO: A large platter of salmon Nicoise salad.

Abundance + Co.

A large platter of salmon Nicoise salad.

Serves 4-6

Ingredients
For the roasted salmon and potatoes:
2 lbs. of skinless salmon (preferably in one piece)
2 small lemons, sliced into rounds
1 1/2 lbs. baby potatoes, halved
1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil
1 teaspoon salt

For the salad
12 oz green beans
6 eggs
1 1/2 cups cherry tomatoes, halved
2/3 cup black olives, pitted
2 heads butter or romaine lettuce
handful chives, chopped

For the dressing
1 shallot, chopped
1 tablespoon mustard
1/4 cup tablespoon red wine vinegar
2/3 cup extra-virgin olive oil
1 teaspoon salt

Directions

Preheat oven to 425 degrees.

Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.

Place the salmon in the center of the baking sheet and scatter the halved potatoes around the salmon. Place the lemon slices on top of the salmon. Pour the olive oil over the salmon and potatoes. Season the salmon and potatoes with salt and pepper.

Place the tray in the oven for 25-30 minutes until the salmon is just beginning to flake in the middle. If you are using smaller fillets, rather than one large piece, check the fillets after 15-20 minutes. The salmon is done when it is just beginning to flake in the center.Remove the salmon from the tray and set aside.

Continue roasting the potatoes until they are well =browned – about 10 minutes longer.

Meanwhile, prepare a bowl of iced water and set aside.

Bring a large pot of water to boil. Once it is boiling, add the eggs and boil for 9 minutes exactly.

Remove the eggs from the boiling water and place them directly into the bowl of ice water (but do not drain the boiling water in the pot).

Now add the green beans to the boiling water and boil for 1-2 minutes.

Drain the green beans and place straight into the ice bath for a few minutes. Remove and pat dry.

Peel the eggs and slice lengthwise into halves.

Make the dressing by whisking all the ingredients together until well amalgamated.

Assemble the salad: On a large round platter, spread out the lettuce leaves. Place the tomatoes, olives, green beans, eggs and potatoes on top of the salad leaves. Break the salmon into large pieces and lay on top. Pour over the dressing and scatter over the chopped chives.

Rosemary White Beans With Frizzled Onions and Tomato Recipe - The New York Times

Rosemary White Beans With Frizzled Onions and Tomato
David Malosh for The New York Times. Food Stylist: Simon Andrews.

A speedy, pantry-friendly dish, canned white beans braised in olive oil and tomatoes become stewlike and creamy. Pinches of fresh or dried rosemary, chile flakes and lemon zest add complexity to the mix, while a topping of frizzled, browned onions lends sweetness and a chewy-crisp texture. Serve this with toasted country bread drizzled with olive oil, or over a bowl of rice or farro for an easy, satisfying weeknight meal.

Featured in: Here’s Yet Another Reason to Worship Canned Beans

Ingredients

Yield: 3 to 4 servings
  • ½cup extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1large white onion, halved and thinly sliced into half moons
  • Fine sea salt
  • 6garlic cloves, thinly sliced
  • 2teaspoons minced fresh rosemary, or ½ teaspoon dried rosemary
  • ¼teaspoon red-pepper flakes, more for serving
  • 2(15-ounce) cans white beans, such as cannellini or butter beans (preferably canned with salt), drained and rinsed
  • 1cup chopped tomatoes, fresh or canned
  • teaspoons finely grated lemon zest
  • 1cup chopped fresh parsley leaves and tender stems, more for garnish

Preparation

  1. In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons oil until it shimmers over medium-high heat. Add onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until well browned all over, 7 to 10 minutes. Reduce heat to medium, transfer half of the onions to a plate and season lightly with salt.

  2. Add remaining 6 tablespoons oil, the garlic, rosemary, red-pepper flakes and a pinch of salt to the onions in the skillet. Cook until garlic is pale gold at the edges (don’t let the garlic turn brown), 2 to 5 minutes.

  3. Add beans, chopped tomatoes, ½ cup of water and 1 teaspoon salt to skillet; stir until beans are well coated with sauce. Bring to a simmer over medium-low heat and cook until broth thickens, stirring occasionally, about 10 to 15 minutes.

  4. Stir in lemon zest and parsley, and taste, adding more salt if needed. Garnish with reserved onions, more parsley, olive oil and red-pepper flakes, if you’d like. The beans thicken as they cool, but you can add more water to make them brothier if you like.

Barkov's first-period hat trick enough to hand Canadiens fourth straight loss - Montreal Gazette

Florida 7, Montreal 2. Power play got some good news though.

Article content

SUNRISE, Fla. — Aleksander Barkov had a natural hat trick in the first period to propel the Florida Panthers to a 7-2 victory over the Canadiens Thursday at FLA Live Arena.

Advertisement 2

Article content

It was the fourth consecutive loss for the Canadiens while the Panthers snapped a three-game losing streak.

Article content

Barkov, who returned to the lineup after missing three games with a knee injury, was credited wth the game’s opening goal at 2:37 of the first period although his only contribution to the goal was being in the right place at the right time. He was battling for position in front of Montembeault when Gustav Forsling’s shot from the point hit his skate and deflected into the net.

Barkov was more involved on his second goal, which once again highlighted the failings of the Montreal penalty-kill. One minute after Joel Armia went off for high-sticking Matthew Tkachuk, Barkov found an opening through Montembeault’s  pads with a shot from the left faceoff circle.

Advertisement 3

Article content

Barkov completed the hat trick at 14:15 when he picked up a loose puck in front of the net and beat Montembeault with a backhander.

The Canadiens did show some life on the power play, which ranks dead-last in the NHL. The Canadiens didn’t score on their first power play but it was close. Radko Gudas was stepping out of the box when rookie defenceman Arber Xhekaj beat Sergei Bobrovsky wth a slap shot from the blue line. It was the fifth goal of the season for Xhekaj.

Montreal did score a power-play goal before the first period was over.

The Canadiens had a four-minute power play after Eetu Luostarinen high-sticked Brendan Gallagher, and they cut the Florida lead to 3-2 when Josh Anderson scored on the rebound of a shot by Mike Hoffman. Xhekaj and Hoffman each picked up his second assist on the goal.

Advertisement 4

Article content

But the Canadiens shot themselves in the foot early in the second period when they took a penalty for having too many men on the ice and Tkachuk responded with a second power-play goal.

Carter Verhaeghe effectively put the game out of reach early in the third period when he slipped between defencemen Kaiden Guhle and Joel Edmundson to give Florida a 5-2 lead. But the Panthers weren’t finished. Tkachuk added a third power-play goal — the 14th power-play goal the Canadiens have surrendered in their last 10 games — and Luostarinen completed the scoring.

Coach Martin St. Louis welcomed Gallagher back to the lineup after he had been sidelined since Nov. 29 with a lower-body injury. Evgeny Dadonov, who started his NHL career with the Panthers, was back after two games as a healthy scratch. Michael Pezzetta and Anthony Richard were scratched to make room for the changes.

Advertisement 5

Article content

Chris Wideman was also a healthy scratch as St. Louis used five rookie defencemen for a second consecutive game.

The Canadiens’ post-Christmas road trip continues with a late afternoon game in Washington on New Year’s Eve (4 p.m., SN, TVA Sports, TSN 690 Radio, 98.5 FM) and concludes on Jan. 3 in Nashville.

9 Easy Spaghetti Squash Recipes You Can Make in 30 Minutes or Less - Yahoo Life

If you follow a low-carb diet, prefer a paleo or Whole30 diet, or are gluten-free, chances are, you've had to give up eating traditional, wheat flour-based pasta noodles. For those who love a creamy fettuccine Alfredo dish or a warm bowl of spaghetti and meatballs, this can be a devastating dietary switch that's difficult to adjust to. Thankfully, spaghetti squash—aka a vegetable that can literally take on the appearance of ribbon-like strands of spaghetti—has grown in popularity as a healthier alternative to standard pasta over the last few years.

A winter squash, spaghetti squash is from the same family as butternut squash. However, when cooked, its unique resemblance to pasta noodles gives it a more versatile edge over other tasty gourds. Additionally, spaghetti squash can be fairly fast and easy to prepare, and using it as an ingredient swap in lieu of pasta can help make your dish gluten-free and more low-carb friendly.

If you're looking for inspiration for how to enjoy this versatile vegetable, check out these 9 easy spaghetti squash recipes that you can make in 30 minutes or less. The daily strength indicator RSI is in bearish mode and sustaining below the 50 mark, indicating bearish strength. Hence, based on the above technical structure the analyst expects profit booking till Rs 1,000 level.

On the downside, the stock may find support around Rs 1,000 and Rs 950 for a fresh long position while upside resistance is intact at Rs 1,450 and Rs 1,810.
