European roundup: Barça put four past Betis, Benzema hits Real hat-trick - The Guardian

Karim Benzema scored a first-half hat-trick as Real Madrid recovered from a disappointing midweek loss at Girona by beating lowly Almería 4-2 at home in La Liga on Saturday.

Benzema opened the scoring in the fifth minute with a close range shot from a Vinícius Júnior cross and extended Real’s lead 12 minutes later after a magnificent individual play by Rodrygo. He netted his third from the penalty spot in the 42nd minute after Lucas Vázquez was fouled inside the box.

Lázaro tried to put Almería back in the game by scoring from point-blank range three minutes later but Real extended their lead right after the break after Rodrygo rifled a shot from the edge of the box into the top corner.

Real wasted several chances to extend their lead further with Rodrygo and Vinícius missing sitters from close range and Benzema and Marco Asensio hitting the post twice. A Lucas Robertone header narrowed the deficit after Toni Kroos gifted the ball to the opposition inside his own box.

Andreas Christensen, Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha were on target as Barcelona thrashed 10-man Real Betis 4-0 to tighten their grip on top spot and move a step closer to a 27th La Liga title.

With only six games remaining, Barça are now on 79 points, 11 ahead of Real Madrid, while Betis remain sixth on 49 points.

Christensen opened the scoring for Barcelona in the 14th minute with a point-blank header after a cross from Raphinha. Barça’s job was made easier by the Betis defender Edgar González, who came off the bench in the 12th minute to replace the injured Luiz Felipe but was sent off 21 minutes later after receiving two yellow cards for two bad tackles.

Robert Lewandowski slides on his knees across the pitch to celebrate his goal for Barcelona against Betis.

The locals made the most of their advantage before the break, scoring twice within three minutes thanks to strikes by Lewandowski and Raphinha.

Barça took their foot off the pedal after that but managed to extend their lead thanks to an own-goal by the defender Guido Rodríguez, who scored while trying to clear an Ansu Fati cross in the six-yard-box.

In Italy, Alexis Saelemaekers’ 97th-minute goal gave Milan a vital draw away to Roma. José Mourinho’s side seemed to have won the game – and moved above Milan into the final Champions League place – when Tammy Abraham finished clinically in the 93rd minute. But Milan equalised when Saelemaekers forced Rafael Leão’s cross through the goalkeeper Rui Patrício. The two goals were the only shots on target.

Leão has now been involved in 19 goals so far this season, scoring 12 with seven assists, and has equalled his overall tally from last term – 11 goals, eight assists.

Milan host second-bottom Cremonese on Wednesday when Roma travel to ninth-placed Monza.

Union Berlin drew 0-0 with Bayer Leverkusen, who are now unbeaten in 14 matches, in the Bundesliga on Saturday. Union made the better start and pushed for the opener but a scoreless draw was perhaps the predictable outcome from a meeting of the teams with the best defences in the league since the winter break.

Union are third but level on points with fourth-placed Freiburg, who won 1-0 at Köln thanks to a goal from the Japan midfielder Ritsu Doan. RB Leipzig are two points back in fifth after Christopher Nkunku’s frst-half strike earned them a 1-0 win at Hoffenheim.

Dominick Drexler scored late to give Schalke a 2-1 victory against Werder Bremen and boost their chances of avoiding relegation, while Stuttgart triumphed by the same scoreline against Borussia Mönchengladbach and Eintracht Frankfurt played out a 1-1 draw with Augsburg.

Toulouse hammered holders Nantes 5-1 in the French Cup final after scoring four first-half goals at the Stade de France to secure the club’s first major trophy on Saturday.

The defender Logan Costa and the striker Thijs Dallinga both netted twice inside the opening 31 minutes. In the second half Nantes managed to pull a goal back with a penalty as the midfielder Ludovic Blas fired into the roof of the net 15 minutes from time, but Toulouse’s Zakaria Aboukhlal wrapped up a one-sided victory by smashing home their fifth from distance.

Odd God of War Ragnarok Trick Allows Players to Revive a Beloved Character - GameRant

Major Spoiler Warning For God of War Ragnarok's StoryAn odd God of War Ragnarok interaction sees a beloved character inexplicably return from the grave and act as a companion to Kratos. The bizarre moment is made all the more humorous given that it occurs during God of War Ragnarok's otherwise deeply emotional epilogue.

With broken releases and technical flops a regular occurrence, God of War Ragnarok was a breath of fresh air for many, launching last November in a near-perfect state. In contrast, gamers recently saw the arrival of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, a sequel to 2019's Fallen Order, which has been widely panned for performance issues - particularly on PC. It has fueled ever-growing frustration at the state of non-console gaming, a sector of the industry that has endured a series of disappointing ports. That said, even titles like God of War Ragnarok cannot escape unintended bugs.

RELATED: God of War Ragnarok's Atreus Gets Stuck in a Bizarre Loop

But when they are so few and far between, glitches and their unintended consequences are more a source of quaint joy than intense frustration. A prime example of this is demonstrated in a video uploaded to Reddit by Commercial_Raisin215, where fan-favorite character Brok is miraculously revived just before his funeral is due to commence. Kratos is standing on a dock nearby and directing Freya to fire Hex arrows directly at Brok's corpse. The player then has Kratos throw his axe at the Hex-sphere's center, which is intended to cause an explosion that engulfs the surrounding area. Click here to see the video on Reddit.

brok and fake tyr

However, immediately after the explosion, Brok stands up tall and runs towards Kratos, passing two of his mourning friends without even saying hello. Brok does not say anything in the clip, nor does any character acknowledge him, and comments confirmed that if the player moves far enough away from that area, Brok will de-spawn and return to being a corpse, as he is destined to be.

Many playing God of War Ragnarok for the first time likely expected that Kratos would at some point journey to retrieve the missing part of Brok's soul, something the player is notified about early into the game by his brother Sindri. Alas, that knowledge is turned into a brutal moment of dramatic irony at the expense of the player, when Mimir reveals that the incomplete nature of Brok's soul, at the time of his second death, means there is nothing left to save. Sindri's subsequent breakdown has led some to believe the surviving brother may become an antagonist if the stories of either Kratos or Atreus continue.

God of War Ragnarok is available now on PS4 and PS5.

‘Cake Boss’ Buddy Valastro reveals the ‘real trick’ to his nearly 40-pound weight loss - Yahoo News

Buddy Valastro is looking pretty svelte these days, and he's ready to share the small lifestyle changes that helped him shed nearly 40 pounds over the past nine months.

The "Cake Boss" star took a slow and steady approach to weight loss and he just told People that he turned to intermittent fasting and portion control to slim down.

The 46-year-old has lost between 35-40 pounds and he's feeling inspired to keep up his healthy lifestyle.

“It took me nine months to lose weight, and I’ve been maintaining it now because I lost it nice and slow. It wasn’t a crash diet or anything like that,” he said. “I just tried to be more disciplined during the week.”

In 2020, the Carlo's Bakery owner experienced a hand injury that would result in five surgeries. His medical setbacks, coupled with extra time spent at home during the pandemic, led him to gain a bit of weight

“After COVID, I was just home — doom and gloom — and eating. I mean…COVID was just miserable in that way,” he explained.

Flash forward to March 2022, and Valastro was feeling inspired to get back in shape.

“I just woke up and I was like, ‘This is almost the heaviest I’ve ever been,’” he says.

Valastro still enjoys his favorite foods — like his wife's pasta — but he's learned to practice portion control. He also aims to stop eating every day at 6 p.m.

“Growing up in an old-fashioned Italian house, you didn’t eat until you were full, you eat until you couldn’t even move. And you were gorged,” he said. “And that’s the way I would eat all the time. And once I started to shrink my stomach and stop when it’s time to stop, you feel better.”

The baker also likes to drink lots of water to keep his appetite in check, calling it "the real trick" to his weight loss.

“I try to pound seven or eight bottles of water a day. You’re always peeing! But it is good for your skin, too...If you drink a lot of water, you can’t eat as much. So it’s kind of just changing your habits, and you make it your job," he said.

Valastro is pretty dedicated to his new lifestyle but he knows weight will always be a "constant battle" for him.

“It’s always going to be there. It’s not like it’s going to go away... I feel like I’m in a pretty good place now. So I’m happy. And just doing the best I can," he said.

20+ Best 25-Minute Dinner Recipes - EatingWell

In just 25 minutes, you can have a healthy and delicious dinner on the table, thanks to these recipes. Whether it's grilled fish with a veggie side dish or cheesy one-pot pasta, these dishes are highly-rated with four- and five-star reviews, so we know you'll fall in love with them. Recipes like our Creamy Skillet Chicken with Spinach & Mushrooms and Vegetarian All-American Portobello Burgers are satisfying meals that will soon become your new dinner favorites.

Best Oven-Baked Salmon

Photographer: Jen Causey, Food Stylist: Jennifer Wendorf

Lemon, fennel and dill impart delicious flavor in this easy baked salmon recipe. Baking the lemon slices releases the juices and essential oils from the rind. Serve with fingerling potatoes and asparagus, or enjoy with a simple salad.

Springtime Cacio e Pepe

"Cacio e pepe" means "cheese and pepper" in Italian. This spaghetti dish, with fresh asparagus and baby arugula, is flavored with "cacio e pepe" and a little lemon zest. It's simple to prepare and on the table in just 25 minutes.

Creamy Skillet Chicken with Spinach & Mushrooms

Marty Baldwin

Chicken cutlets are topped with a spinach-mushroom cream sauce for a flavorful yet healthy dinner. Serve over pasta or grains to soak up the sauce.

Vegetarian All-American Portobello Burgers

Portobello mushrooms stand in for meat patties in this recipe for veggie burgers with all the fixings. Mushrooms are a source of glutamate, a naturally occurring compound that gives the fungi their umami flavor. But to really give these "patties" a savory boost, we brush them with steak sauce. Add a simple side salad or some grilled veggies for a satisfying and easy dinner on the grill.

Spinach-&-Artichoke-Dip Grilled Cheese

Jacob Fox

This spinach-and-artichoke-dip grilled cheese offers the classic ooey-gooey filling, packed with plenty of spinach and artichokes, between two slices of crispy toasted bread so you can ditch the dipping.

Grilled Salmon & Vegetables with Charred Lemon-Garlic Vinaigrette

Jacob Fox

This grilled salmon recipe paired with grilled vegetables and a charred lemon-garlic vinaigrette captures the flavor of summer with smoky flavor from the grill. Asparagus and zucchini are quick and easy to grill and pair nicely with the salmon.

Air-Fryer Orange Chicken

Laura Kanya

Orange chicken is typically made with fried chicken coated in a sweet, sticky sauce. In this lightened-up version, we skip the oil in favor of an air fryer and make an equally delicious sauce that goes easy on the sugar. Serve with brown rice and steamed green beans.

Creamy White Chili with Cream Cheese

This rich, yet healthy, white chicken chili recipe comes together in a flash thanks to quick-cooking chicken thighs and canned white beans. Mashing some of the beans acts as a fast thickener when your soups don't have a long time to simmer. Cream cheese adds the final bit of richness and a hint of sweet tang.

One-Pot Lemon-Broccoli Pasta with Parmesan

This hearty pasta dish with bright, fresh flavor is ideal for busy weeknights. The Parmesan adds welcome saltiness and notes of umami and you get added texture from the slight crunch of broccoli and whole-wheat noodles. Add some shredded rotisserie chicken, grilled shrimp or crispy chickpeas to punch up the protein.

Lobster Roll

Becky Luigart-Stayner; Mary Catherine Muir

We might be a little biased, but we think this is the best lobster roll recipe of all time. This is the classic New England lobster roll recipe: a basic hot dog bun filled with lobster salad. There are no fancy seasonings here; the lobster is showcased in a simple mayonnaise dressing. This salad is also great over greens for a main dish.

Scallops with Lemon-Basil Sauce

Oxmoor House

Large sea scallops are great for a fast and filling protein source any night of the week. They can be seared or sautéed and then added to salads and pastas or served solo as an entrée. Their mild taste and universal appeal make them a good host for complex flavors. Look for dry-packed sea scallops at your local seafood market. They haven't been soaked in a liquid solution, which increases their weight and sodium content.

Cherry Tomato & Garlic Pasta

This easy and healthy cherry tomato pasta recipe takes just 20 minutes to prep, so it's a perfect weeknight dinner. Cooking garlic cloves whole and then mashing them into the sauce not only saves time, it creates a mellow garlic flavor that melds seamlessly into the silky burst cherry tomatoes.

Grilled Salmon with Cilantro-Ginger Sauce

Ginger, fish sauce and honey combine to create a delicious basting sauce in this easy grilled salmon recipe. Look for Thai red chiles in the produce section of your grocery store, or use a green or red jalapeño instead. Not only is this salmon dish delicious, it also takes just 25 minutes to prepare, making it the ideal centerpiece for a healthy weeknight dinner.

Lemony Spaghetti with Parmesan & Thyme

Brie Passano

This simple lemony spaghetti with Parmesan and thyme is delicious on its own or jazzed up with leftover cooked chicken or veggies.

Sheet-Pan Shrimp, Pineapple & Peppers with Rice

Greg Dupree

This incredibly easy seafood dinner uses fresh pineapple and a teriyaki-style sauce a sweet-and-tangy flavor profile. The pineapple also concentrates as it bakes and helps keep the rice mixture from becoming too dry. Rather than spreading the rice to the far edges of the sheet pan, keep it closer to the center and layer the vegetables and shrimp on top. This way their juices seep right into the rice, and the teriyaki drizzle coats every bite.

One-Pot Chicken Alfredo

This creamy, simple chicken Alfredo recipe is incredibly comforting and cheesy from the combination of Parmesan and cream cheese. You'll taste a nice pop of pepper and nutty notes from the whole-wheat pasta, too. Plus, it's a one-pot meal, which means less cleaning for you and a dish that will quickly become your best chicken Alfredo recipe.

Herb & Lemon Roasted Striped Bass

John Autry; Styling: Mindi Shapiro

Fresh herbs give mild-tasting bass vibrant flavor. Pair this easy recipe with a green salad and a side of rice.

Air-Fryer Spinach & Feta Turkey Burgers

Sharp raw garlic, fresh herbs and tangy feta cheese superbly flavor these turkey burgers. Since the patties are air-fried with very little oil, there's room to add a bit of olive oil to the meat to keep the patties from drying out. Serve with air-fried zucchini fries (see associated recipe).

20-Minute Creamy Skillet Chicken with Corn, Tomato & Basil

Jacob Fox

This saucy 20-minute chicken recipe features fresh summer corn, tomatoes and basil. Serve this light and tangy quick dinner over pasta or brown rice.

Minestra Maritata (Italian Wedding Soup)

Forget the marble-size meatballs you find in many versions of this Italian Wedding Soup. In this easy recipe, they're full-size, full-flavored and plenty filling.

Strawberry-Balsamic Spinach Salad with Chicken

Blaine Moats

A quick blender vinaigrette does double duty as dressing for this strawberry spinach salad and, with the addition of ketchup and strawberry preserves, as a barbecue sauce for the tenders.

Sheet-Pan Chili-Lime Salmon with Potatoes & Peppers

Busy weeknights beg for something simple like this salmon sheet-pan dinner. Like the name suggests, it's all cooked on one pan. The potatoes get a head start, followed by sweet bell peppers and finally chili-coated salmon fillets. It's a complete meal with easy cleanup!

25-Minute Chicken & Veggie Enchiladas

Jennifer Causey

These chicken enchiladas are great for using up any veggies you have lingering in your fridge. Our chicken enchilada recipe calls for zucchini, squash and onion, but you could easily swap in spinach, onions or potatoes.

Grilled Flank Steak with Tomato Salad

Cutting the steak immediately after cooking breaks all the rules on meat cookery, but in this recipe we do it intentionally in order to capture the juices and incorporate them into the dressing. Serve this grilled flank steak recipe with crusty bread to soak up the deliciousness.

Mom's Creamy Chicken & Broccoli Casserole

Brian Woodcock; Styling: Cindy Barr

This lightened-up creamy chicken casserole is packed with veggies. The sauce at the heart of this family-friendly casserole uses fat-free milk with a combination of fat-free Greek-style yogurt and a little mayonnaise to give it body.

2023 NBA playoffs - Odds, picks, betting tips for Saturday's Game 1 - ESPN - ESPN

ESPN's fantasy basketball and basketball betting tips cheat sheet is your pregame destination for basketball betting predictions and our best intel and data, featuring ESPN's proprietary Basketball Power Index (BPI) to help you make smart fantasy and wagering decisions. NBA game odds for Saturday, April 29, are provided by Caesars Sportsbook.

What you need to know for Saturday's game

The second round of the NBA playoffs begins this evening in Colorado as the West's top-seeded Denver Nuggets host the Phoenix Suns in a series that bodes to have real title implications. The spread for this contest, like the tight series odds, indicates a competitive game. With the total hovering around 226 points on most books, there should be a good bit of offense on display.

Since this is the lone game of the day, there are unique showdown formats on both DraftKings and FanDuel. While the scoring and roster rules are a bit different for each platform, each requires designation of high-value players such as the captain spot on DraftKings or "STAR" on FanDuel. Since these roster spots include modifiers to increase fantasy scoring, chasing chalk for these spots is often the wisest call.

Since single-game formats are inherently star-driven, developing "stars and scrubs" strategies for lineups in these contests could prove rewarding. Rostering bankable superstars Nikola Jokic or Kevin Durant will consume a big percentage of your budget, which means ancillary options such as Michael Porter Jr., Bruce Brown, Torrey Craig, and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope could emerge as differentiators.

It's hard to fade Jokic in really any capacity this evening. After all, the two-time MVP averaged more than 30 points and a triple-double in two games against Phoenix this season.

-- Jim McCormick

Game of the night

Phoenix Suns at Denver Nuggets
Game 1: 8:30 p.m. ET

Records (Against the Spread)
Suns: 45-37 (42-38-2)
Nuggets: 53-29 (44-37-1)

Line: Nuggets (-3) Total: 226
BPI Projection: Nuggets by 3.8
Money Line: Suns (+130), Nuggets (-155)

Injury Report:
Suns: None reported
Nuggets: None reported
Note: BPI numbers factor players who are ruled out but assumes GTD players will play

Best bet: Nikola Jokic over 38.5 points+rebounds. The Nuggets will attack the Suns inside. Neither Deandre Ayton nor Bismack Biyombo should be a problem for Jokic. So far in the postseason, he's averaging 26.2 points and 12.4 rebounds. This season, Jokic surpassed this line twice in two games against the Suns. The Nuggets will lean heavily on the big man in this series. -- Eric Moody

Best bet: Devin Booker over 41.5 points+assists+rebounds. Booker averaged 43.2 minutes per game against the Clippers, and that trend should continue in this series since Monty Williams isn't confident in the Suns' bench. During the postseason, Booker has averaged 37.2 points, 6.4 assists, and 5.0 rebounds per game, and there's no standout defender on the Nuggets to slow him down. -- Moody

Best bet: Over 227.0. There are a lot of playmakers on both teams so we're probably going to see a lot of points in Game 1. Even though the Nuggets were the better team during the regular season, the Suns have been better lately since acquiring Durant. The total has gone over in six of Phoenix's last eight games. In order to keep up with this dynamic Suns offense, the Nuggets need to get off to a quick start. -- Moody

Reset your body and mind with 10 'spring-cleaning' tips - CNN

Editor’s Note: Dana Santas, known as the “Mobility Maker,” is a certified strength and conditioning specialist and mind-body coach in professional sports, and is the author of “Practical Solutions for Back Pain Relief.

CNN  —

With the weather warming up, you might feel inspired to clean out your closets, wash your windows and give your house a deep scrub and reorganization. Not only is a clean environment good for your physical health, but research has shown that the good feelings you get from having a clean, uncluttered home reduce stress levels and ward off depression.

Imagine how great you would feel if you took that same spring-cleaning approach to your body — your living, breathing home.

Of course, you should already be subscribing to annual checkups with your primary care physician and eye doctor, and you may even see your dentist biannually. But what about taking a closer look at how you fuel and move your body — and making healthy changes to clean up those areas?

As a mind-body coach in professional sports, I work with coaches, medical staff and expert consultants every year during baseball spring training to help players prepare their bodies for the season. In addition to conducting annual physicals, we do nutritional and movement assessments to create appropriate action plans.

The quality of your body's ability to move and how well you feel in it affects the overall quality of your life, according to fitness expert Dana Santas.

You may not be a professional athlete, but your body is still the vehicle used to navigate your life, and the quality of its ability to move and how well you feel in it affects the overall quality of your life.

That’s why I enlisted the help of two nutrition and human movement experts to provide 10 “spring-cleaning” tips to avoid injury, move pain-free, reduce inflammation, maintain a healthy weight and generally feel better in your body.

Important note: It’s recommended to consult your doctor before starting any new exercise programs or dietary changes.

1. Avoid trendy ‘cleanses’

You might expect a cleanse to be tip No. 1, but think twice before you dive into one of the many popular advertised cleanses. A lot of them can “do more harm than good,” according to registered dietitian Angie Asche, owner of Eleat Sports Nutrition and author of “Fuel Your Body: How to Cook and Eat for Peak Performance.” Asche said cleanses can be dehydrating and contain herbal supplements with potentially negative side effects and contraindications with certain medications. What’s more, some of these regimens don’t deliver on their promise, according to the National Institutes of Health. “Most are missing key nutrients that are necessary for your body to naturally detoxify,” she explained.

2. Naturally ‘cleanse’ by eating more plants

Fiber, found in plant foods, is the key to safe and efficient cleansing, according to Asche. She advises eating five to nine fruits and vegetables daily for bowel regularity and weight management. “Not only do plant foods like nuts, seeds, legumes, whole grains, fruit and vegetables contain antioxidants,” Asche said, “but the more variety of plants we have in our diets, the better for the diversity of our gut biome.”

3. Cut out ultraprocessed foods

With your focus on eating more real, whole foods rich in fiber, Asche also recommends limiting ultraprocessed packaged foods such as cookies, candy, crackers, baked goods and fried foods. These foods are full of saturated fat, sodium, sugar and preservatives while being devoid of nutritional value.

4. Drink enough water

How much water you drink affects all the functions of your body — including your mental performance; a body water loss of just 1% to 2% can impair cognitive function. To promote good health and weight management, Asche advises drinking at least half your body weight in ounces daily but said the amount can vary depending on a person’s activity level.

5. Reduce alcohol intake

Asche said that most fluids, including tea, coffee and carbonated water, can count toward your water intake, but she points out that alcohol does not — and should be limited. “In large amounts, alcohol can overwhelm the gut, promoting intestinal inflammation and increasing harmful bacteria … (which) can lead to a wide range of health problems,” she said.

6. Do a movement assessment

Screens that look at your ability to do functional movements, such as squatting and lunging, are a great way to proactively prevent injury, according to physical therapist Gray Cook, a cofounder of Functional Movement Systems.

“Signs of weakness, tightness and balance problems can be early indicators of arthritis and posture issues as well as increased injury risk for athletes and fall risk for the elderly,” Cook said.

You can get the assistance of a physical therapist or qualified trainer to perform a movement assessment, but a recent study showed that self-movement assessment (using an app codeveloped by Cook) is valid and reliable for identifying musculoskeletal risk factors.

7. Be intentional about your exercise

Whether working with professional athletes or doing my own workouts, I ensure that I cover all primary functional movements in all planes of motion in every training session. Executing that kind of total-body workout sounds more complicated than it is. It’s simply about practicing and strengthening your ability to perform your body’s basic movement functions: squatting, hinging, pushing, pulling, rotating and stabilizing your core.

And, just like the multidirectional movement of everyday life, it helps to exercise in all three planes of motion: sagittal (forward/backward), frontal (side to side) and transverse (rotating). You can easily practice these movements with a body-weight workout or yoga flow.

8. Exercise regularly to live longer

It's important to practice and strengthen your ability to perform the body's basic movement functions.

The key to exercise’s effectiveness is consistency. With as little as 11 minutes of exercise per day, you can enjoy numerous health benefits — including increasing your life span. Walking outside is a great way to get in those 11 minutes daily, and because of the alternating and reciprocal nature of gait, it offers the opportunity to tune into your body and self-assess by noticing if there are any imbalances.

9. Breathe better to move better and feel better

Breathing plays a vital role in how you think, feel and move. In addition to reducing your heart rate, blood pressure and stress response, learning how to breathe better will improve your diaphragm function and rib mobility, which can improve posture and reduce back pain. Practice taking breathing breaks a few minutes throughout your day.

10. Get enough sleep

Sleep is essential for overall health. Adults need at least seven hours of sleep nightly, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. If you’re not getting that minimum amount of shut-eye, it’s time to clean up your sleep routine and start prioritizing rest.

Just like the physical and mental benefits of traditional spring-cleaning within your home, these 10 tips will refresh and revitalize your body and mind in noticeably positive ways.

Sign up for CNN’s Fitness, But Better newsletter series. Our seven-part guide will help you ease into a healthy routine, backed by experts.

Real Madrid 4-2 Almeria: Karim Benzema hits hat-trick as second-placed Real seal home win - BBC

Real Madrid captain Karim Benzema scoring his first goal against Almeria

Karim Benzema's hat-trick against Almeria saw him pass Hugo Sanchez as the fourth-highest scorer in La Liga history with 236 goals.

Benzema scored two close-range finishes after cutbacks from Brazil wingers Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo.

Lucas Vazquez was fouled by Largie Ramazani and Benzema converted from the spot to complete his first-half treble.

Victory sees second-placed Real Madrid move within eight points of leaders Barcelona.

Carlo Ancelotti's side got back to winning ways before Real's Champions League semi-final against Manchester City on 9 May.

Only Lionel Messi (474), Cristiano Ronaldo (311) and Zarra (252) have scored more goals in the Spanish top flight than the 35-year-old former France forward.

Almeria pulled a goal back in the dying seconds of the first half, with Ramazani atoning after conceding the penalty by crossing into the six-yard box for Lazaro Vinicius to finish.

Two minutes after the restart, Rodrygo fired a screamer into the top corner from outside the box.

Substitute Lucas Robertone headed in from a Francisco Portillo cross just after the hour mark as relegation-threatened Almeria put up a fight against the defending champions, but were ultimately overpowered.

Eduardo Camavinga and Rodrygo had diving headers ruled out for offside with Los Blancos unable to get their fifth goal of the thrilling contest.

Barcelona have the chance to restore their 11-point lead at the top when they face Real Betis this evening at 20:00 BST.
