Starfield tips and tricks

Here are some Starfield tips and tricks to help you on your interstellar journey:

  • Plan out your Skill selections. We recommend taking a good look at all five of the Skills Trees in Starfield, so you can map out what kind of build you’d like to have. This will help you later on as you’ll need to decide which Skills to invest more points in and which ones to unlock. Remember that Backgrounds provide you with three Skills automatically, but you can’t change your Background after selecting it.
  • Traits can be removed. If you decide that you don’t like a Trait, then there is a way to remove it. Some Traits can be removed at Reliant Medical surgeries, but others may require a different method… Keep in mind that once a Trait is removed, you can’t get it back.
  • Don’t let your guard down after grav-jumping! Space is vast and you’ll never truly know what’s out there, which means you may find yourself in the middle of a battle after fast travelling between star systems or planets. While you can run away, assisting the friendly ship may net you a reward.
  • You can’t land a ship during combat. It’s not safe to land a ship while it’s being fired on, but, if you find yourself in a battle you don’t wish to fight, you can always grav-jump to another part of space.
  • Unlock the Targeting Control Systems skill. This Skill can be incredibly helpful during spaceship combat, because, after locking onto an enemy ship, it will allow you to directly target one of its systems - from the Lasers to the Shields. So, not only does it improve your aim, but it can help you board and take over enemy ships by targeting their defences.
  • Keep an eye out for green first aid boxes. If the light of a first aid box is on, then it contains at least one item which will either provide you with health or help fix an Affliction. If the light is off, however, then the box is already empty.
  • Regain health by sleeping. If you don’t want to use a Med Pack or eat a meal to regain your health, you can always take a short nap. Just remember to always include a bunk in your ship design and you’ll be able to have a healing sleep whenever you like. It may even help fix an Affliction…
  • Beware of Afflictions! These are Starfield’s version of status effects and there are two types you need to look out for - injuries and infections. Injuries can result from combat or falling from a great height, while infections come from both biological and creature hazards. Some Afflictions will heal on their own, while others need either a specific health item or a visit to the doctor.
  • Always hide your Contraband. You may find yourself picking up some Contraband - items banned in the Settled Systems - on your travels. If you're caught carrying these items either on your ship or in person, then you’ll be arrested. To successfully hide Contraband on your ship, you need to have some Shielded Cargo space and, ideally a Scan Jammer. While these items are rarely on sale, you can find them on enemy ships…
  • Avoid being arrested! If you’re caught committing a crime, like hacking or murder, on a planet in the Settled Systems you may find yourself being arrested. Ending up in prison will lead to you losing some precious XP, but you won’t decrease in Level or lose any Skills.
  • As long as you're in the same star system, you can Fast Travel between planets. It’s possible to quickly Fast Travel between any planet in the same star system, which is perfect for resource gathering. Though you may want to check the atmosphere of a planet before making the move…
  • Always scan a new planet before you land. While scanning a planet before you land on it for the first time won’t tell you everything you need to know about it, you may learn some important information. This can be anything from a resource you can find on it to whether the atmosphere is breathable.
  • Have the Scanner open when exploring a new planet. This will allow you to keep track of how many resources, fauna or flora can be found on the planet, along with any traits it might have. Fully completing the Survey Percentage for a planet will reward you with its survey data, which can be sold, XP and an outpost production bonus for that world.
  • Use the Scanner to Fast Travel. The Scanner doesn’t just help you gather information about planets, you can also use it to Fast Travel back to your ship. Simply look around for the Ship icon and, once selected, you’ll be given the Fast Travel icon. You can also use the Scanner to Fast Travel around certain locations like New Altantis.
  • Take the time to fully explore any settlements you visit. Alongside the new characters, sights and vendors you can visit, wandering around a settlement can lead you to pick up new Missions or Activities by overhearing conversations and announcements.
  • Assign weapons and health items as favourites. Favoriting an item will let you add it to the Quickslot menu where, as the name suggests, you’ll be able to access it quickly whenever you like. This is perfect for when you want to switch guns during combat. Make sure you regularly update your Quickslot selections as you acquire more powerful weapons.
  • Don’t forget about your cargo hold. From weapons to potted plants, you’re going to be picking up an awful lot of items in Starfield and, before you know it, you’ll be exceeding your Mass. When this happens, you’ll consume more of your Oxygen Supply when sprinting. Thankfully all of your ships have their own cargo holds where you can store items you don’t want to carry around with you. You can also purchase larger cargo holds, so your ship can carry even more items.
  • Talk to your companions when they ask to have a chat. Every so often one of your companions will want to talk to you. This may be because they want to give you an item they’ve found or it will unlock a new conversation which will allow you to grow closer to them. Who knows - maybe you’ll find romance in the stars?
  • Remember to assign crew members and companions to your ship or outpost. Don’t let your companions or crew members stand around idle, instead put them to work on either ship or an outpost. This way you can benefit from their own Skills, which is very useful if they have Skills you haven’t invested points in yet.
  • Don’t want to see your spacesuit on breathable planets? There’s an option for that. If you’re playing in third person mode, then there’s a good chance you don’t want your character running about in their space suit all the time. You brought that cowboy hat after all, might as well see them wearing it. To do so, head to your Spacesuit and Helmet inventory where you’ll find the option to hide these pieces of equipment on planets with a breathable atmosphere. Don’t worry, the equipment will reappear when needed!
  • Red dots on the Star Map are star systems you can’t currently visit. Either because you need to upgrade your ship’s fuel capacity or due to an unexplored route, these red star systems are currently out of your range. If the route is unexplored, you’ll have to jump to another star system on this route first to reach it. Don’t worry - you simply have to visit the system once and then you can move on.
  • Remember to use your flashlight. While space sure is exciting, you’ll also find yourself delving into caves or abandoned buildings during your adventure. When this happens remember to turn on your flashlight else you’ll become lost in the dark.

Good luck travelling amongst the stars!

PlayStation Plus subscribers share trick to avoid price increase - GAMINGbible

As I'm sure you've probably heard by now, Sony has announced it will be raising the price of PlayStation Plus from next month. If you listen closely you can hear the screams of indignant fury from gamers around the world.

Loading…

“We also wanted to let you know that starting 6 September we will be increasing the price for PlayStation Plus 12-month subscriptions globally across all benefit plans. This price adjustment will enable us to continue bringing high-quality games and value-added benefits to your PlayStation Plus subscription service. “

The new prices are as follows:

  • Essential 12-Month Subscription- $79.99, 71,99 Euro, 59.99 GBP.
  • Extra 12-Month Subscription- 134.99 USD, 125,99 Euro, 99.99 GBP
  • Premium 12-Month Subscription- 159.99 USD, 151,99 Euro, 119.99 GBP.

Naturally, people really aren't too chuffed about this development, especially given the general consensus that PlayStation Plus isn't really that good these days - especially when you hold it up next to Xbox Game Pass which, among other things, will be giving subscribers Starfield on day one.

Fortunately, there is a sneaky way to avoid these price increases, at least for a short while. Oh, and you can "send Sony a message" in the process.

How To Avoid The PlayStation Plus price hike

As pointed out by multiple users over on the PlayStation Plus subreddit, you can cancel your subscription now to avoid any price increases.

Okay, that sounds obvious, I know, but you will also be able to stay subscribed for the remainder of your term without having the pay the increased prices. So, if you renewed this June, you will remain subscribed until next June without having to pay anymore. As an added bonus, the influx of cancellations will undoubtedly let Sony they messed up.

Estate planning tips inspired by Aretha Franklin's "couch will" - Fortune

A Michigan jury ruled that a will found in Aretha Franklin’s couch is valid, hopefully ending a grueling five-year battle over her estate. Five years of bickering and legal fees probably isn’t what the legendary singer had envisioned for her family after her death. However, arguments—and more—are what could happen if you don’t have a proper estate plan in place.

While Franklin’s case may be a bit extreme, it still takes on average 400 hours over 16 months and $12,400 in fees to finalize an estate, according to a study commissioned by ClearEstate, an estate planning and settlement company. But this doesn’t have to be the case for your loved ones.

Consider these five estate planning tips to make your family r-e-s-p-e-c-t your wishes. Otherwise, settling your estate could hurt like hell.

1. Start with some basic tools

When creating an estate plan, you’re creating a toolbox, says Patrick Simasko, an elder law attorney and financial advisor at Simasko Law in Mount Clemens, Mich. “Aretha Franklin had one tool: a will she did on her own,” Simasko says. And while a will is a powerful estate planning tool, there are other simple tools you need to protect yourself and your loved ones—in life and death.

A will or trust

When they go to work: Upon your death (but living trusts, during your lifetime)

Why they’re powerful tools: Because you get to say what’s what

Often thought of as the cornerstone of any estate plan, a will or trust details who gets what and when they get it after your death. While thinking about death is no one’s favorite topic, skipping the process sets your loved ones up for a struggle akin to the Franklin family.

If your finances and assets are relatively straightforward, you might find that a basic will suits your needs. A trust could be a better tool if your finances are more complex—or if you live in a state with a probate process known to take a while. Luckily, we have two guides to help you learn more: everything you need to know about wills and a guide to trusts.

A living will

When it goes to work: During your lifetime

Why it’s a powerful tool: It’s a document that can relieve your loved ones’ stress

It’s time to talk about the worst, folks. If the unthinkable happens—say, a car accident or a heart attack—you’re unlikely to be able to make your own decisions about emergency care. A living will tells doctors and other medical professionals what you want done (or not done) to extend your life.

For example, you could want all the bells and whistles today—CPR, life support, and more. But your feelings might change later in life or if you’ve endured a prolonged illness. A living will prevents your loved ones from making these decisions at a stressful time.

A medical power of attorney (POA)

When it goes to work: During your lifetime

Why it’s a powerful tool: This doc appoints someone you trust to direct your medical care

Everyone has a family member where they’d rather go blind than put that person in charge of their healthcare decisions. So channel the late, great Etta James to make your family r-e-s-p-e-c-t your decision Aretha-style and appoint someone you trust to make your healthcare decisions if you cannot.

With a medical POA, you name someone who can make decisions about your medical care if you cannot. Many hospitals can help you with a basic medical POA if you’re admitted for care. You can also set one up in advance. Just ensure the person you appoint as POA knows they’re appointed and has a copy of the document.

A financial POA

When it goes to work: During your lifetime

Why it’s a powerful tool: This doc appoints someone you trust to manage your money

Aretha Franklin’s estate was worth more than $80 million. And while you might not have that much in the bank, your finances still deserve the attention of someone you trust. A financial POA names someone to handle money matters in case you cannot.

A financial POA can cover financial decisions big and small, such as just giving someone permission to pay your electric bill from your checking account if you’re incapacitated in the hospital or deployed overseas.

Guardianship orders

When they go to work: Upon your death

Why they’re powerful tools: It protects your children, which is beyond awesome

If you have children, imagining you won’t be there to see them grow up is the worst thought possible. That’s why parents and legal guardians with minor children need to establish guardianship orders. “As soon as you start a family, that’s a good time to make sure you have that paperwork in order, so someone will be there to watch over your minor children and take care of their finances,” Simasko says.

You can set up guardianship orders through your will or trust. In those documents, you can name a preferred legal guardian (possibly your child’s other parent or a family member) for your kids. You can also establish secondary guardians if something prevents your first choice from taking on the responsibility.

2. Make a list of your a-s-s-e-t-s (and liabilities)

Any well-planned estate will try to diminish the task required of the person you’ve named to carry out your wishes, says Davide Pisanu, co-founder and CEO of ClearEstate. Why? Most people who have acted as executors or trustees of a deceased loved one’s estate say the experience was one of the hardest ones of their lives.

To ease your executor’s (will) or trustee’s (trust) workload, take the time to make a list of your current assets, liabilities, and digital accounts. This list should include things like:

  • Bank accounts. Include all checking and savings accounts, including banks and account numbers. If you have online banking access, include your username and password.
  • Investment accounts. From brokerage accounts to retirement accounts like a Roth IRA or employer’s 401(k), write down the username, password, website, and, if necessary, the phone number for the company that holds the accounts.
  • Outstanding loans. Your mortgage, auto loan, and any personal loans should make the list, including the contact information for each lender.
  • Credit card accounts. Don’t forget to include major and store-based credit cards (like your Amazon card).
  • Life insurance policies. Include the policy number, value, and contact information for the insurer.
  • Online accounts. These can include streaming subscriptions, meal kit services, and more.
  • Email accounts. List your email addresses and passwords.

If you’re worried about the security of having all this information on a sheet of paper in your desk drawer, consider using a digital vault. “In the past, people used security boxes at the bank or other mechanisms at home, but I’m of the view that a digital solution is more secure than these traditional solutions,” Pisanu says.

Digital vaults are also designed to grant the executor access upon death. In contrast, financial institutions may force your executor to jump through hoops to access a safety deposit box.

Tip 3: Name b-e-n-e-f-c-i-a-r-i-e-s on all your accounts

Even though the Aretha references might be wearing thin, naming your beneficiaries—and everywhere possible—is hugely important. Even if you forget to make a will (or lose it in a couch cushion), designating beneficiaries on some accounts means they can bypass probate—the legal process for validating a will—and have assets distributed straight to the people you’ve named.

In fact, beneficiary designations override a will. So even if your will says Johnny should get your IRA, if your IRA beneficiary is Tommy, Tommy gets it.

You can—and should—put beneficiaries on accounts like:

  • Bank accounts
  • Taxable brokerage accounts
  • Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs)
  • 401(k)s and other employer-sponsored retirement accounts

You can also use joint registrations on certain assets and accounts through joint tenants with rights of survivorship (JTWROS). This registration type automatically transfers account ownership to the co-owner upon your death.

Alternatively, you can register the account as transfer on death (TOD), which means your share of the property will go to your named beneficiary when you die.

Assets that can be registered as either JTWROS or TOD include:

  • Non-retirement bank accounts
  • Non-retirement brokerage accounts
  • Real estate, such as your house title
  • Vehicles

Tip 4: Get help from an attorney (which doesn’t have to be expensive)

Thanks to the internet, you can DIY just about anything these days, but that doesn’t mean you should. Online estate planning sites have “fantastic documents,” but they’re only as good as the person… putting them together, Simasko says—and that person is you.

If you have questions about estate planning documents you create online or prefer an attorney to handle the entire process, there’s no shame in asking for help.

Many online estate planning sites offer a la carte consultations with an attorney. You can also contact an attorney specializing in estate planning (many are board-certified, depending on the state) or an elder law attorney.

Before engaging with an attorney, it can be helpful to read online reviews and check your state bar association’s website for any complaints or disciplinary actions against them.

Tip 5: Talk to me, talk to me

In all honesty, talking about death likely isn’t your number-one favorite thing to do. But starting the tough conversation with those you love can make things much easier when you’re gone. “One of the biggest issues around death is that we don’t talk about it,” says Pisanu.

There’s no one right way to explain to your loved ones what you’ve laid out in your estate planning documents. You could have a 36,000-foot-view conversation that just lays out the basics: the name of your executor or trustee, who will act as your powers of attorney, and any other details about who gets what that you want to share. You can also lay everything out in detail. You know your family and loved ones best and can choose the approach that you feel works best.

And if you want to check if your parents’ affairs are in order, Simasko says sharing that you’ve recently completed your estate plan could be a conversation starter.

“They’ll say everything is in order because back in 1984, they took you to Disneyland and got their will done,” he says but adds that a one-and-done approach might not be enough.

Just think of how things might’ve turned out differently if one of Aretha’s children had asked about her estate plan. Would the will have come out of the couch cushion and saved years of strife? Maybe. But everyone’s estate plan deserves a regular checkup—and a scheduled checkup for significant life events like buying a home, moving, marriage, divorce, and death.

The takeaway

Aretha Franklin deserves to be remembered for her music, not the perils of an estate planning misstep. Her legacy will live on in her songs, and these estate planning tips can make sure your legacy—no matter its size—does the same with those you love.

Warren Buffett's Trick To Build Wealth - GOBankingRates

Warren Buffett is one of the most quoted men in history, and rightly so. Buffett offers some of the very best investment advice in the world, and he presents it in a folksy, easy-to-understand way that everyone can follow. The fandom surrounding Buffett has reached such a fever pitch that every spring thousands of people attend Berkshire Hathaway’s annual meeting just to be near the “Oracle of Omaha.”

While Buffett has shared countless gems regarding investing, perhaps his greatest piece of advice is to simply keep investing. Here’s what Buffett said about the topic, what his advice really means and how you can incorporate it into your investing life

Warren Buffett’s Advice

Buffett shared his advice during an interview with CNBC, in which he suggested that savers should continually buy shares in an S&P 500 index fund, and simply keep buying it “through thick and thin, especially through thin.” According to Buffett, this is not only an easy way to build a strong retirement fund but also generational wealth.

What To Do If Times Are Hard

If times are hard, that’s an even better opportunity to pick up shares in the S&P 500, according to Buffett. His encouragement to buy “through thick and thin, especially through thin,” means it’s time to add even more to your S&P 500 investment if it trades down in value. Buffett understands that when the market goes down, investors are generally tempted to sell, rather than buy. But as Buffett points out, that’s the worst time to sell, as you are unloading shares when the price is low, and then buying back when prices are high.

As Buffett told CNBC, “When you see bad headlines in newspapers, we say, ‘Well maybe I should skip a year.’ Just keep buying it… American business is going to do fine over time, so you know the investment universe is going to do very well.”

Why Warren Buffett Believes So Strongly in This Advice

In his 2017 letter to his Berkshire Hathaway shareholders, Buffett explained why he believes in low-cost index funds. “When trillions of dollars are managed by Wall Streeters charging high fees, it will usually be the managers who reap outsized profits, not the clients,” Buffett said. “Both large and small investors should stick with low-cost index funds.”

Beyond the cost, Buffett is also a firm believer in the long-term success of the United States. In his 2021 letter to shareholders, he explained his belief in America, saying, “In its brief 232 years of existence… There has been no incubator for unleashing human potential like America… Despite some severe interruptions, our country’s economic progress has been breathtaking. Our unwavering conclusion: Never bet against America.”

The low cost of S&P 500 index funds and the long-term success of American companies are the reasons Buffett believes it’s always a good time for the average investor to buy more shares of the index.

Why Doesn’t ‘The Oracle of Omaha’ Put His Money Where His Mouth Is?

If an S&P 500 index fund is “the best choice” for most investors, why doesn’t Buffett invest the Berkshire Hathaway portfolio in it? The answer is that Buffett and his portfolio managers are experts at identifying undervalued businesses. They also have the capital to get better deals on certain investments than individuals can.

In other words, Buffett and his managers have the time, the money and the expertise to pick long-term winning investments that can actually outperform the S&P 500. The proof of this is in the numbers. From 1965 through 2022, the S&P 500 returned a respectable 24,708% to investors. Berkshire Hathaway returned an incredible 3,787,464% over that same time period. Rather than the $2.4 million you’d have if you invested in the S&P 500, you’d have closer to $355 million by investing in Buffett and Berkshire Hathaway.

Still, Buffett left instructions with his trustee that after he passes away, he wants 90% of his assets invested in an S&P 500 index fund for his wife and heirs. This alone speaks to Buffett’s strong belief in the power of continually buying the S&P 500.

How To Incorporate Buffett’s Advice Into Your Investment Strategy

Although Buffett’s advice isn’t exactly groundbreaking–many financial advisors encourage their clients to do the same thing–the fact that it comes from one of the richest people in the world, and one with demonstrated, long-term investment success, gives it more weight for many investors. To incorporate this advice into your own investment strategy, follow these simple steps:

  • Select a low-cost S&P 500 index fund.
  • Set up your account for automatic transfers on a weekly or monthly basis.
  • Reinvest dividends.
  • Maintain your contributions– or even increase them–when the market is down.
  • Avoid selling unless absolutely necessary, particularly when the market is down.

These simple steps will help you follow Buffett’s investment advice and set you up for long-term success.

Aston Martin to rework trick F1 “bowtie” winglet after Zandvoort failure - Motorsport.com

The small bowtie-shaped device was located under the rear crash structure, in an area that has not previously been exploited by teams, and was designed to work in conjunction with the latest floor updates.

Positioned exactly where the rear of the car is lifted in the pits meant Aston had to redesign the jack in order to ensure that the new part couldn’t be damaged.

However, during practice last Friday it showed signs of cracking, and was taken off the car for the rest of the weekend.

“It was just an experiment really to see from an aero side whether it was producing the suction that it should have been producing in that area,” said Aston Martin performance director Tom McCullough.

“Unfortunately, it wasn't quite reliable enough out on track. So we decided just as a precautionary thing to remove it for the moment.

“But it's still something we're looking into. I don't think it's been done by teams up and down the pitlane that I've seen.”

Expanding on the failure, he said: "It was cracking. So we elected to take it off. It was more a test item, part of the update package, so just trying to exploit all the little areas in the rules that allow you to sneak as much performance in as you can do. We're going to look at a more robust solution.”

McCullough noted that the rear jack considerations had determined when the new part made it to the car.

“This idea was actually something that the aero design team came up with several months ago,” he said.

“And the reason it's taken so long to get to the track has really been down to developing a rear jack that allows you to jack the car up.

“We had of lot of practice to make sure we can still jack the car without damaging it or slowing down the pit stop. In the end, ultimately out on track, it wasn't quite robust enough, but it's something we've not given up on.”

The rest of the new floor package featured on both cars for Saturday and Sunday in Zandvoort after Fernando Alonso tried the old and new versions on Friday, with positive results.

"The updates we've been bringing to the car really are focused around the floor,” said McCullough.

“So the whole floor is actually different, subtle changes throughout the floor, just a continuation of the updates we've been bringing in recent events, the whole package working together.

“Some brake duct changes, too. It's just small iterations, all part of the continual development phase of this car."

If you want to play Starfield five days early and don’t mind spending a little money for the privilege of doing so, there’s a little ‘trick’ that you can do with Xbox or PC Game Pass that’ll get you right on board and blasting off into space from as early as August 31st, depending where in the world you are.

It’s a simple thing – in fact, it’s barely even a ‘trick’, it just hasn’t been all that well publicised that you can do it.

Upgrade to the Premium Edition

On Xbox and PC Game Pass, Starfield will be free to play – with the subscription, of course. That means that when the game is released on September 6th, you can jump in and start exploring the vast, almost endless environment that boasts a staggering 1000 planets, all ripe for discovery.

For a grand cost of just £34.99 / $34.99, you can get access to Starfield a whole FIVE DAYS early, and it’s because of that free version that’s on Game Pass that you can do so.

If you navigate to the Starfield listings on the Xbox store – on console or on PC – you’ll see that there’s something called the Premium Edition Upgrade. It’s priced as we’ve just outlined, and it basically rewards users with all the content featured in the Premium Edition, including:

  • Old Mars Skin Pack
  • Shattered Space Story Expansion
  • Constellation Skin Pack
  • Digital Artbook and Soundtrack
  • FIVE DAYS EARLY ACCESS

Bethesda Game Studios has outright confirmed that by picking up the Premium Edition Upgrade and pairing it with the free version on Xbox and PC Game Pass, you will get access to the game early and you’ll secure all that lovely extra content.

For $34.99 / £34.99.

That’s well worth doing, in my opinion – and it’s why I have done it.

Rabbi turned 'Tinder swindler' used fake IDs to trick women into sex: police - Fox News

JERUSALEM – A Brooklyn-born rabbi is currently in police custody in Jerusalem on charges of rape by deception after allegedly duping women into having sexual relationships with him using a false identity, a spokesman for the Israeli Police confirmed to Fox News Digital.

Rabbi Yosef Mordechai Paryzer, who moved to Israel some 10 years ago, allegedly used the alias Jake Segal, as well as other fake names, exchanging his religious garb in favor of more secular clothing to create a profile on dating websites such as Tinder and Bumble in order to lure unsuspecting women into relationships with him. One of the relationships reportedly lasted more than seven years.

Paryzer, 34, told the women he was dating – some of them simultaneously – that he was single, living with roommates in Jerusalem and working for a non-profit organization as a trainer for Seeing Eye dogs for the blind. Instead, he was a married father of two young children who worked as a teacher in a local Yeshiva.

One of the women, who asked to keep her identity private for legal reasons, told Fox News Digital that she met "this person" on Tinder and that his profile, which included photographs and a full name, "seemed very normal."

"We started dating in December, we went to public places and had very deep conversations," she said, adding that "It took quite some time to actually have sex, and we were pacing our emotional closeness."

After a few months, however, the two started discussing a future together, including meeting each other’s families, marriage and starting a family, she said.

"He was very much focused on the future," said the woman, adding, however, that she began to notice some "barriers" each time their relationship seemed to be progressing. For example, she said, she was never invited to his apartment, which he claimed was because he lived with roommates and had no privacy, he did not want to spend weekends with her, he said, due to his moderate religious observance of the Jewish Sabbath and would often cancel dates at the last-minute feigning illness.

"There were explanations for everything," said the woman, who tried several times to discuss the problems with him. "During our seven months together, we broke up twice and when that happened, it would take time for me to bring up the issues that were bothering me again."

"I am beginning to think that it was through this method that he was able to maintain this relationship with me," she said.

It was during another fight just over a month ago that the woman began to uncover the truth about Paryzer’s true identity. Hoping to apologize to him after their argument, she went to the apartment where she believed he lived only to find no one there of that name. Confused, she remembered him mentioning the names of two women he followed on Instagram, and with the help of friends, managed to track them down. Both women informed her that they were currently in or had recently ended a relationship with him.

"Receiving a phone call like that from a stranger was very hard for them," she said, adding that one of the women already had a hunch that he was not being truthful and had started making a list of yet more women she suspected he might be seeing.

"I contacted those women too and heard very similar stories," said the first woman. "The conversations we had were devastating and very emotional."

That was when some of the women decided to team up and confront him. Inviting him to her apartment with the other women present, they demanded the truth. Initially, Paryzer only admitted to being in relationships with all of them, claiming that he was lost and depressed. He refrained from revealing the full truth or his real identity. Only later did the women discover that he was married, with two young children – one that had been born in the last few months – and that he was a rabbi.

Another woman, who said she met Paryzer on Bumble last January and also knew him as Jake Segal, told Fox News Digital that in April, she had taken him to a family function where he had met her parents and siblings. A month later, the mother of the woman, who is also from Brooklyn, raised a red flag saying that she had tried to find out more details about Jake Segal, but there was no trace of him either in the Jewish community or online.

When she confronted him, the second woman said Paryzer claimed to be having a panic attack and was later unresponsive to her requests. That was when she ended their relationship.

"For about a month I was in this total paranoid state worried that I was going to see him with another woman because we live so close, and I didn’t understand why I didn’t bump into him. It didn’t make sense," she said.

After being contacted by the other women and finding out the full truth, the second woman said she is still living with "all the confusion and all the lies."

"I know there will come a day when I can release myself from that," she said. "My friends keep telling me that I’m so strong but there are still times when I feel totally depleted and confused again. But I do have this underlying motivation to make sure that justice is served, and that no woman should ever be hurt by this man again."

Earlier this month, two of the women filed a criminal complaint of rape by deception – the crime of having sexual relations under a false identity – against Paryzer, and following an investigation by the police’s fraud unit, he was arrested last week. The religious school where he was teaching promptly fired him.

"Paryzer’s actions were immoral but not criminal," Raanan Amosi, Paryzer’s lawyer said in a statement to Fox News Digital. "All social media networks and especially dating apps are full of lies, every adult knows this so anyone claiming these were serious relationships lacks logic and common sense. Once we have all the material for the case, we will be able to prove that."

A spokesman for the Israel police said that so far, the testimonies of some 18 additional women who said they were involved in relationships with Paryzer had been collected. In addition, at least a dozen more had come forward since his arrest was made public, said the women involved. On Monday, a Jerusalem court extended his detention by a further seven days.

President of Security First Insurance offers tips for Florida home insurance customers - WKMG News 6 & ClickOrlando

ORLANDO, Fla. – Melissa DeVriese, president of Security First Insurance company in Ormond Beach sat down with News 6 investigator Mike Holfeld to talk about the role insurance companies will play to answer the call for coverage and what policy holders need to know.

“At this point we believe we have more than enough resources to respond to post Hurricane Idalia,” DeVriese said.

We have 443 employees of Security First, over half of them are in our claims department. They’re all geared up and ready to go. We use six national providers to supplement our staff, so we feel very confident that we have the adjustors to handle the storm.

[EXCLUSIVE: Become a News 6 Insider (it’s FREE) | PINIT! Share your photos]

DeVriese offers the following tips for insurance policy holders in Florida.

  • Every homeowner should know how to file a claim
  • It would be best to know the policy number and if the homeowner had an idea of the policy coverages. For example, it would be good of they knew of they had flood insurance or not that would be something important to know ahead of time
  • If a homeowner isn’t sure of either their coverage or how to get a hold of their insurance company, their agent should be their first line of defense. They should definitely contact their agent, if not, their carrier”
  • Their carrier probably has a web site with a portal for you

Storm Event Anticipation. (Are you in the cone?)

“We send out notice before and after a storm. We find it has a very high open rate and customers really appreciate it, and in that email we tell them how to file a claim, what their policy number is and how to obtain additional information,” DeVriese said.

If you have damage, make sure you’re safe, then document the damage. If you have the ability to take photos take videos that’s really important, that will help a lot in your claim. Then call your insurance carrier as soon as it’s possible to file the claim.

“The sooner you let us know you have a problem the sooner we can get out there. We want to get to get you house to the pre-storm state as quickly as possible. I’s really dependent on the carrier and the size of the event on how long that will take.”

Lisa Damour’s Tips For Navigating Teen Mental Health As School Begins - The New York Times

As adolescent mental health has worsened, the psychologist offers advice for parents about anxiety, academics and friend struggles.

The author and psychologist Lisa Damour has become somewhat of a celebrity among many parents of teenagers.

“I’ve been Damour-alizing myself big time for about a month now,” said Rebecca Gold, a mother of three in Great Barrington, Mass. “I love her so much that I just created a verb in her honor.”

Ms. Gold, who has two teenagers and a 10-year-old, has been devouring Dr. Damour’s books, listening to her podcast and “basically trying to channel her.”

In Seattle, Katie Eastwood, the parent of a 15-year-old and a 12-year-old, raved about “Untangled,” Dr. Damour’s guide to a girl’s seven developmental transitions, saying that the book “has saved me over and over again.”

Dr. Damour, who is known for dispensing practical advice backed by scientific research, has counseled teenagers and their families for more than 25 years. Her latest book, “The Emotional Lives of Teenagers,” has become a New York Times best seller, following “Untangled” and “Under Pressure.”

As the mother of two daughters, ages 12 and 19, Dr. Damour knows first hand that parenting is hard and sometimes scary. And that has been especially true over the last few years, as the mental health of children, particularly teenage girls, has suffered.

But a reassuring thread runs through Dr. Damour’s work: You’ve got this, it seems to say. “Mental health is not about feeling good,” she writes in “The Emotional Lives of Teenagers.” “Instead, it’s about having the right feelings at the right time and being able to manage those feelings effectively.”

We asked Dr. Damour how to support teenagers psychologically and emotionally as they navigate the new school year.

Questions and answers have been edited and condensed for clarity.

Here’s what I want parents to watch out for: Low or angry moods that last more than a day or two. And what I call “costly coping,” where young people are using coping strategies that do bring relief but that will cause harm. Whether it’s abusing substances, using technology in unhealthy ways, being hard on the people around them, or taking things out on themselves.

And, of course, I want parents to be alert if a teenager talks about feeling hopeless or wanting to harm themselves.

Teens want to do things on their terms. That is the nature of being an adolescent. When adults are calling the meeting and setting the agenda — when we are saying, “How was your day, what happened?” — teenagers can sometimes bristle and feel cornered.

But teenagers also want — and need — to be connected to loving adults. And they do tend to bring up topics that are close to their heart, often at times that are unexpected or even inconvenient.

As a parent of adolescents myself, I try not to take it personally when they’re not in the mood to answer my questions, and I do my best to be receptive when they’re ready to talk, even if it comes at the cost of my own to-do list or sleep.

It’s important for teenagers to express their emotions. Verbalizing feelings and talking about their internal world is one way that they do that. But it’s not the preferred option for every teenager. We need to respect that sometimes teenagers “get their feelings out” by going for a run. Or by putting on a playlist that matches their mood so that they can deepen themselves into that mood and then speed their way out of it.

The priority is that teenagers have ways to get their feelings out that bring relief and do no harm. The priority is not necessarily that they bare their souls in language. People’s coping strategies are highly personal.

You warmly respond: “The time will come when you are living independently. And you’ll get to make your own rules. For now, you’re a member of this household. And that means living with the rules we make.”

It’s best if the adult in that conversation can underscore that the rules are organized around respectful treatment of one another and the teenager’s safety.

And if the rules don’t fall into those two categories, they probably should be up for negotiation.

Avoidance feeds anxiety. When we avoid the things we fear, the immediate effect is that we feel tremendous relief, which can actually reinforce the wish to continue the avoidance.

By not going to school or going to the party, our fears become crystallized in amber because they are not tested against reality.

Another concern is that when a student misses a day of school for any reason, they can’t help but fall behind a little academically and socially.

The determination I want families to make is whether what their teenager is confronting is uncomfortable or unmanageable. Under most conditions — with the help of anxiety-reducing strategies — the teenager could engage at least a little bit in the thing that they fear. Going for part of the day is better than staying home.

Parents and caregivers can be most useful when we make the distinction between healthy and unhealthy anxiety. Healthy anxiety is a safety system we all come equipped with that alerts us to threats. When a teenager has a big test that they have not started studying for, or a teenager is at a party that is out of control, those are both times when I would expect to see an anxiety response. And I would like for that anxiety response to help promote a course correction.

Unhealthy anxiety occurs when there’s anxiety in the absence of a threat, or if the anxiety is out of proportion to the threat. In irrational anxiety, we tend to overestimate the threat and underestimate our ability to manage it.

If a teenager is worried about how they’re performing academically, caring adults can talk with them about the possibility that they are overestimating the consequences. And perhaps underestimating their ability to take steps to address the things they’re worried about.

The goal is not to rid teenagers of anxiety. That will never happen, nor should it. The goal is to make sure their anxiety is staying in the healthy range.

The real question is whether an adolescent has a sufficient opportunity to recover between intervals of stress.

It’s similar to strength training. If people don’t rest between weight-lifting workouts, they can get injured. If they can rest between weight-lifting workouts, they gain strength.

Are these demands so great that this teenager is not getting enough sleep? Has no time to see friends? If they’re saying yes to questions like that, the teenager’s schedule needs to be revisited.

Beyond empathizing about how painful it is to be mistreated or pushed away by friends, there are steps adults can take to help a hurting teen.

First, we can note that friction and disagreements are a natural, if unwanted, aspect of relationships. The goal is to handle conflict well when it arises. Examples of poor conflict management include being mean, icing someone out, or gossiping with third parties about the problem.

Instead, we want to encourage teens to try to be direct and fair with one another, or to create a polite distance if that hasn’t worked or won’t work.

Conflict aside, friendships often shift and change in adolescence. This painful reality can be easier for teens to accept if we reassure them that just because a friendship doesn’t last forever doesn’t mean that it was never good.

Happily, there is a place parents can locate themselves between helicopter and hands-off: the role of coach.

Of course, we want to help our kids and teenagers to manage the challenges that come their way. And our first response should be that we’re standing on the sidelines, so they can use us as a consultant for how they’re going to play things out.

The situations kids are in can be so complex that there have been times when I’ve seen a well-meaning adult make things worse by wading in. The more that we can help teens build the skills to navigate independently, the more confident we can feel when it’s time for them to leave home.

Cristiano Ronaldo scores hat-trick in Al-Nassr's first win of the season - Marca English

Al-Nassr claimed their first three points of the 2023 Saudi Pro League season after finally picking up their first win on Matchday 3.

Luis Castro's side dominated the game throughout, keeping possession and creating more chances.

Al-Nassr's players were clearly superior throughout the match. Otavio and Aymeric Laporte, despite their recent arrival in the team, joined Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mane in the starting line-up.

Anderson Talisca and Seko Fofana have not yet been called up.

Cristiano continues to work his magic

Cristiano Ronaldo has been looking for goal at all times since the start of the first half.

With a clear superiority at all times of Al-Nassr, Otavio and Cristiano created many dangerous chances, but could not find the goal.

In the 25th minute came the first clear chance for the Brazilian who shot from close range and forced Rinne to intervene.

In the 27th minute, Mane opened the scoring after a back-heel assist from Cristiano, who left a great detail of quality and confirmed that the Portuguese continues to have his full abilities at his disposal.

The second was not long in coming after a great cross that the star was able to take advantage of and he finished with his head to send the ball into the back of the net.

Two from the Senegalese, three from the Portuguese

In the second half, Al-Nassr came out hungry for more, wanting to extend their lead and continuing to hold the ball.

Al-Fateh, on the other hand, found more space and created more chances. Cristian Tello appeared to try to close the gap, but the Catalan, who did not have a great performance in today's game, was not very accurate.

In the 55th minute, Cristiano appeared again to score the third goal of the game and make it a brace. With an empty net, the Portuguese star confirmed that he still has a lot of fight left in him.

Mane also wanted his brace and in the 80th minute, he headed home from the penalty spot to convert the goal.

Cristiano made no mistake and deep into stoppage time he crowned his first hat-trick of the season and put the game to bed.

A great performance from Al-Nassr who have shown why they are the recent AFC Champions League winners. With this win they get their first three points of the season.
