NEW YORK (AP) — Brady Tkachuk scored the tying goal for Ottawa in the final minute of regulation and won it with a backhander with 17.4 seconds remaining in overtime as the Senators beat the New York Rangers 3-2 Friday night.
Tim Stutzle also scored for the Senators, who rebounded from a 3-1 loss at home to the Rangers on Wednesday and won for the third time in four games. Cam Talbot had 25 saves, including a stop on Mika Zibanejad on a breakaway with 1:34 left in the extra period.
Tkachuk skated in on a breakaway late in overtime, shook off the Rangers’ Artemi Panarin and beat Igor Shesterkin for his 11th of the season to get the win in his 300th career game.
“It’s definitely going to be memorable,” Tkachuk said of his milestone. “Everybody stepped up in here tonight. It was a huge game for us, a huge game for our confidence. Hopefully, now we get on a little bit of a run.”
Zibanejad and Vitali Kravtsov scored in regulation as the Rangers lost for the fourth time in five games (1-3-1). Shesterkin had 34 saves in losing his third straight start.
“I didn’t think we played good enough in the first or second (periods),” Zibanejad said. “We did a little bit better job in the third, but it’s definitely disappointing to do that, especially with Shesty giving us a chance to win.”
With the score tied 1-all after two periods, the Rangers’ Vincent Trochek had a shot go off the crossbar during a power play about 5 minutes into the third.
Zibanejad then gave the Rangers the 2-1 lead at 6:03 with his 12th after Senators defenseman Artem Zub took a shot from Chris Kreider in the face. The puck bounded to Zibanejad, who put it in for his 12th with Zub on the ice holding his face.
Ottawa had a goal disallowed for the second time in the game when a sprawled Shesterkin jammed an attempt by Motte under his right skate against the post and then had his leg pushed into the net with the puck under it with 7:18 left. After a review, officials deemed the play was dead as Shesterkin held the puck under his skate long enough and the no-goal stood.
The Senators pulled Talbot for an extra skater with about 1:45 left and tied it 2-2 when Tkachuk deflected a long shot by Thomas Chabot out of the air and past Shesterkin with 48.4 seconds left. It was his 100th career goal.
“He stayed with it all night,” Smith said of the team’s captain. “Not much more you can ask of a guy. … He’s an elite net-front guy in the NHL with obviously a physical presence. There’s not a ton of guys that want to move him out of there and he’s getting better and better with his hands.”
Trailing 1-0 after 20 minutes, Giroux appeared to tie it for Ottawa on the rebound of a shot by Tkachuk with 8:46 left in the second. However, the Rangers challenged for offside on the play and the goal was erased after a review.
The Senators tied it 12 seconds into their third power play 1:02 later as Stutzle backhanded a loose puck from the right side for his ninth.
Kravtsov got the Rangers on the scoreboard with 9:29 left in the opening period. His initial shot hit Ottawa defenseman Travis Hamonic in the neck and the puck came back to Kravtsov, who gathered it and fired it in off the right post for his first of the season.
Hamonic was down on the ice for several minutes before being helped up.
STATS
Artemi Panarin and Adam Fox had assists on Kravtsov’s goal to keep them tied for team highs in assists (20) and points (26).

Senators: Host San Jose on Saturday night to open a two-game homestand.
Rangers: Host Chicago on Saturday night in the middle game of a three-game homestand.
Week 11 of the NFL season gets underway Thursday with an AFC East matchup between the Buffalo Bills (-4, 43.5) and New England Patriots from Gillette Stadium. The Bills have won two straight and are tied with the Dolphins atop the East at 8-3. New England is in last place and is coming off a loss to the Vikings but is still only two games back at 6-5.
What can we expect from a betting standpoint for Thursday night's game?
Betting analysts Doug Kezirian, Tyler Fulghum, Joe Fortenbaugh, Anita Marks and Erin Dolan; fantasy and sports betting analysts Eric Moody and Andre Snellings; and ESPN Stats & Information's Seth Walder, ESPN analyst Jason Fitz and Football Outsiders' Aaron Schatz provide their top plays for the matchup.
Note: Lines from Caesars Sportsbook unless otherwise indicated.
The Patriots are in last place in the AFC East but are just two games back of Buffalo and Miami. Who do you like in this game (Bills -3.5, 43.5), and who would you take in a tight division race where the Dolphins (+240 to win AFC East), Bills (-230), Jets (+1500) and Patriots (+3500) are all in the hunt?
Kezirian: For me, there are just too many moving parts right now to find value in a one-way betting market. I am uneasy with the health of Josh Allen's elbow, and obviously the other three teams are outperforming preseason expectations. It's just hard to see an edge.
Fortenbaugh: I don't see anything wrong with taking a shot on the Dolphins at +240, considering that's an implied probability of just 29.4 percent. So, ask yourself this: Do you think Miami has a greater than 29% chance of winning the division? The Dolphins are 8-3 and hold the tiebreaker over Buffalo. Further, their once daunting end-of-season schedule no longer looks so bad now that the Chargers and Packers have turned out to be average-at-best football teams.
Schatz: Give me the Bills in this game, as they are still the No. 1 team in the league by DVOA. The Patriots are 11th, but they're all the way down at 25th on offense and we know offense (where Buffalo ranks sixth) is more predictive than defense going forward. We also know the Patriots specifically have trouble with mobile, scrambling quarterbacks like Josh Allen. As for the odds to win the division, there's a little bit of value there in the Jets and Patriots compared to the Football Outsiders playoff simulation, but it's not much.
Marks: This game will be closer than what most people expect. Mac Jones is coming off his best game of the season against the Vikings, and Josh Allen is still not 100% from his elbow injury. The Pats have one of the best red zone defenses in the league, and the Bills struggle to capitalize to score touchdowns in the red zone. I like the Pats getting the 3.5 points. I'll use them in a two-team six-point teaser, and I like the under at 43.5.
Josh Allen has thrown for 622 yards, eight touchdowns and no interceptions while adding 130 rushing yards in his last two matchups with the Patriots. Do you expect more of the same and are you throwing anything on him to win MVP (+1200)?
Dolan: I expect Allen to throw a pick given he's tied with Davis Mills for the most interceptions (11) this season, but the line is way too juiced. So this may be a little reckless, but I would do a same-game parlay and combine a Mac Jones and Allen interception at +190. Jones is due to throw a pick after a three-game drought without an interception, but he had at least one pick in his first five games of the season with a total of seven over that span. The Bills have 13 defensive interceptions (tied for second best), while the Patriots have 12 defensive interceptions (tied for third best). I expect both QBs to make mistakes.
Schatz: The Patriots had a strong pass defense last year (third in DVOA) and Allen shredded it in the last two meetings between these teams. So I think he'll do well against this year's strong pass defense which is also third in DVOA. But, in particular, I'm looking for rushing yardage. The Pats gave up 110 rushing yards to Lamar Jackson, 79 to Justin Fields and 39 to Sam Ehlinger. Sam Ehlinger! Happy to play Allen over 42.5 rushing yards, even at -137.

These teams have not yet met this season. The Bills (0-2 in division play) have won the last two matchups and four of five over the Patriots (2-1 division). How do you see the season series going?
Kezirian: I like New England and the points. Sharp money arrived on the Patriots +4 that moved the number to 3.5. This is Buffalo's third game away from home over the past 12 days. Add that to Allen's elbow issue and I believe the right side is New England. Buffalo's defense has been fairly unimpressive recently. It's hard for one of the best teams to play as such throughout all 18 weeks. In a season of peaks and valleys, this feels like a valley right now for the Bills.
Schatz: Mathematically, the odds favor a split of the division series, but I think the Bills just match up particularly well with the Patriots, not just because of Allen's mobility but because Gabriel Davis, Stefon Diggs and Isaiah McKenzie can stretch all levels of the pass defense. I expect the Bills to sweep the two games. Our playoff odds simulation gives the Patriots only a 25% chance of making the postseason if they lose both Bills games compared to 56% if they split and 86% if they somehow win both.
Is there anything else you like or are playing in this matchup?
Dolan:Nick Folk over 1.5 made field goals. New England ranks 31st in red zone efficiency at 38.7%, while the Bills are good at defending the red zone at 48.6% (the fourth-best rate in the league). The Patriots went 0-3 in red zone touchdown opportunities on Thanksgiving. This is a theme that will continue against the Bills. Folk has hit over 1.5 made field goals in five of 11 games played this season, but the Patriots will continue to settle for field goals.
Schatz:Rhamondre Stevenson over 35.5 receiving yards (-129). The Bills rank 21st in DVOA against passes to running backs and Stevenson has a remarkable 26% target share in the last five Patriots games.
Moody:Hunter Henry over 24.5 receiving yards. The Bills rank second in the league in total yards per game (415.9) and points per game (28.1). The Patriots will have to score points and Henry could play a key role in helping New England move the chains. He's coming off of a game in which he had a season-high 63 receiving yards. The Bills allow the fifth-most targets per game to tight ends. Henry has had five games this season in which he's had four or more targets and has had 50 or more receiving yards in four of them. Henry could have a lot of success as a receiver against a Bills defense without Tremaine Edmunds.
Marks: Rhamondre Stevenson over 60.5 rushing yards, 35.5 receiving yards, 4.5 receptions. Damien Harris is not expected to be active Thursday night so Stevenson will be the featured back, as well as over 35.5 receiving yards. He has 39 targets for 273 yards over his past five games. I also like Isaiah McKenzie over 32.5 receiving yards. McKenzie had a huge game the last time he faced the Pats, and with all the attention on Stefon Diggs -- he should have a healthy target share on Thursday night.

When planning a nice vacation, consider factoring travel insurance into the total cost. That way, you won't be tempted to skip it. While it may not seem like a necessity, it often can help you in the event of an emergency — especially if you're traveling abroad.
Many travelers opt for comprehensive travel insurance, which has an array of benefits, covering everything from trip cancellations to lost luggage and beyond. With travel insurance, you're able to request up to 100% reimbursement for unforeseen events or emergencies, depending on the coverage.
Fortunately, it's easier than ever to shop for travel insurance. With Squaremouth, you simply insert your trip and traveler information and it crunches the numbers for you. Choose from a variety of travel insurance plans and packages to find the right one for you.
Travel insurance tips
If you're looking to save money but still stay protected, then you're going to want to find ways to find cheaper coverage and cut out any unnecessary costs. Here are three travel insurance tips that can help you achieve this:
This tip may sound obvious, but it's something travelers often forget. When purchasing travel insurance, you're not just checking a box that says "add" when you book a flight, tour or hotel. It's something that requires outside research.
Americans are spending around 35% more this fall than they were last year — with many experts placing blame on inflation for rising costs, according to a report from Squaremouth. That means, if you're reading this and planning a trip, you should expect to pay a bit more. And if you're paying more for trips, you're going to want to insure them to prevent any extra costs.
If you're in the market for travel insurance, you should head to an online marketplace like Squaremouth, where you can insert your specific information (trip and traveler details) and get dozens of travel insurance options unique to you. Just remember: Cheaper doesn't necessarily mean less or worse coverage. Carefully review the full policy details and compare them to others.
(Tip: Arrange the results from low to high price so you can find the cheapest deals first).
Squaremouth allows you to get quotes and compare more than 100 policies from 22 providers. They have also received nearly 115,000 reviews from customers, so you can view tips and get feedback from fellow travelers on how the service worked.
Don't overinsure your trip
There are four things that typically affect the cost of your insurance: Total trip cost, age, length of travel and coverage amounts. Out of all of these factors, there's a clear one that you can control: coverage.
The cost of travel insurance typically adds up to around 5 to 10% of your trip costs, according to travel insurance marketplace Squaremouth. If you're spending more than that, chances are you're overinsuring your trip and getting coverage you likely don't need.
When viewing travel insurance policies, take a look at what type of coverage is included and determine if you really need it.
For example, do you really need medical evacuation coverage if you're traveling domestically — or does your current health insurance plan cover you? Do you need annual travel insurance if you're only planning one or two trips?
Take a look at the long list of benefits offered by travel insurance companies and see what's included in a basic comprehensive plan and only get what you truly need to stay protected. Take your health, destination and itinerary into account. View your travel insurance benefits on Squaremouth now to see which you'd like included in your policy.
Don't get Cancel for Any Reason coverage unless necessary
When it comes to Cancel for Any Reason, proceed with caution. This may sound like something you'll want — but it comes with a hefty price tag. In fact, this coverage can increase your premium by around 40-50%, according to Squaremouth.
"Cancel For Any Reason is separate from Trip Cancellation. Travelers who upgrade their policy still have all of their policy's Trip Cancellation benefits. If they cancel under Cancel For Any Reason, they can be reimbursed 75% of their prepaid and non-refundable trip costs. However, if they cancel for a reason that is listed as covered under their policy, they can be covered for 100% of their prepaid and non-refundable trip costs," SquareMouth explains.
This type of upgrade requires preparation: You need to purchase it within 14 to 21 days of your first trip deposit.
Before you commit to buying this type of coverage, take a close look at the reasons that qualify for reimbursement under an average travel insurance plan that includes trip cancellation. Often those reasons are good enough to qualify for some money back.
The bottom line
Many people need travel insurance. It's often well worth the price if you consider the amount of money you could potentially lose from a canceled trip, excursion or incident with your belongings.
"Trip insurance is designed to cover the most common concerns that may impact a trip, including cancellations, medical emergencies, travel delays, and lost luggage. Common covered scenarios include an illness or injury preventing a traveler from departing, severe weather impacting their plans, or a medical emergency during their vacation, among others," Squaremouth explains on its homepage.
If you are planning to buy travel insurance, just make sure you're making the best financial decision for yourself and other potential travel companions.
ST. LOUIS (AP) — Jordan Martinook had a hat trick to help the Carolina Hurricanes beat the St. Louis Blues 6-4 on Thursday night.
After a turnover, Martinook scored the winning goal with 4:35 left, beating goalie Jordan Binnington on a wrist shot. Martinook also scored in the second period and completed the hat trick with nine seconds left for his second career hat trick.
“I’m not the guy who’s supposed to get them but I’ll take it,” said Martinook, who also had a hat trick came in 2018. “I guess I was due.”
Carolina coach Rod Brind’Amour liked how Martinook shook off a bad play on the first St. Louis goal.
“What can you say? He was great. He knew the first goal was his guy,” Brind’Amour said. “I just love the fact he turned the page. You know, he had a tough shift there. The next you know, he said he was done and he went out and was the best player in the game. Give him a lot of credit.”
Brent Burns, Seth Jarvis and Jordan Staal also scored.
The Hurricanes scored three goals in 1:04 in the second period to take a 3-2 lead.
“We were shooting the puck. We kept putting pucks on net,” Staal said. “You feel eventually you’ll get a bounce. We got a few there. They started going behind the goalie which was good. We stayed with our style and created as much havoc as possible. ”
Antti Raanta made 12 saves on 15 shots. Pyotr Kochetkov came in the game with four seconds left in the second period. He made 10 saves on 11 shots.
“It’s a tough spot for a goalie to get thrown in in the middle of a game,” Brind’Amour said about Kocketkov. “He played great for us. That was huge.”
Two games into a six-game trip, Carolina has won three in a row after dropping five straight.
Pavel Buchnevich, Noel Acciari, Torey Krug and Ryan O’Reilly scored for St. Louis. Binnington made 30 saves, missing a chance for his 100th victory.
“We’re a good team,” Krug said. “The record doesn’t exactly show that, but I think pretty soon, we’re going to overtake games and we’re going to put together 60 full minutes.”
The Blues have lost four of their last five and have been outscored 21-9 in the last four.
“It’s a tough month here. We’ve got to play good hockey here to stay in it for sure,” St. Louis coach Craig Berube said. “It’s a busy month. We’ve got three back-to-backs. We’ve got to clean it up. We did a lot of good things tonight, but obviously not good enough.”

DALLAS — Jason Robertson seemed to be downplaying his latest hat trick and the 17-game points streak he is on for the Dallas Stars, insisting several times that he is just playing hockey.
Well, the 23-year-old center is making that look so easy right now at the highest level.
Robertson scored in all three periods for his third career hat trick in the Stars' 5-0 victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday night.
"I'm just getting in position to shoot the puck, I mean, just got to get it past the first guy and get it on net," he said. "It was just playing hockey and picking my head up, and seeing what's available. ... And it's credit to guys who you don't see on the scoresheet, the person who is screening the goalie."
Robertson became the NHL's first 20-goal scorer this season with a deflected puck in the first period, then added his 21st and 22nd on long power-play goals in each of the next two periods.
"You kind get used to it, and you almost have to sit and think about it after about how special it is what you're witnessing. It's unbelievable," first-year Stars coach Pete DeBoer said. "He's making it look easy."
Robertson's other hat tricks came in back-to-back games last March, when he was the first Dallas player to ever do that.
Joel Kiviranta and Wyatt Johnston also had goals for the Central Division-leading Stars. Jake Oettinger stopped 31 shots for his fourth career shutout, two nights after not playing in St. Louis because of an illness.
"He was quiet, he was composed. And there were some tough saves early, especially on their power play," DeBoer said of his goalie.
It was the fourth time in six games for Robertson to have multiple goals. His points streak began Oct. 27 and was already the longest for the team since moving from Minnesota to Dallas in 1993. The franchise record of 20 was set by Brian Bellows in 1986.
Miro Heiskanen had three assists for Dallas, which opened a five-game homestand. Roope Hintz had helpers on two of Robertson's goals in his first game since signing an $67.6 million contract extension.
Anthony Stolarz had 36 saves for the Ducks.
"We were kind of settled in, but as soon as it went to (2-0), for some reason, we wanted to change our game plan," said coach Dallas Eakins, whose Ducks played the second of four consecutive road games.
Robertson, who last season became the only the team's fourth 40-goal scorer in Dallas, missed the most of preseason camp before signing a $31 million, four-year contract a week before the season opener.
After being named earlier in the day as the NHL's first star for the month of November, Robertson need just more than four minutes in the first game of December to extend his points streak.
He moved the puck behind the net and sent a short wrister from the side into the crease. The puck went off the stick of a Ducks defender and past Stolarz.
Robertson scored from the slot just above the circles in the second period, and from the top of the right circle in the third. He has 20 goals and 12 assists in his points streak.
NOTES: Dallas has won nine home games in a row against the Ducks since the 2015-16 season. ... Ducks defenseman John Klingberg, who went to Anaheim in free agency last summer, wasn't with the team in Dallas, where he played the past eight seasons. He missed his fourth game in a row with a lower body injury.
UP NEXT
The next game for both teams is against Minnesota. Anaheim plays the third of its four consecutive road games Saturday against the Wild, who will then play in Dallas on Sunday.

Having hotel elite status can make a significant impact on the quality of your vacation. While airline elite status is helpful when traveling to or from a destination, you'll enjoy hotel elite status benefits for the duration of your trip.
If you haven't traveled enough to earn or maintain your elite status this year, here are some last-minute tips you need to know to lock in your benefits for another year.
How to earn hotel elite status
Grand Hyatt Nashville. HYATT
If you want to earn hotel elite status, the traditional option is to book as many hotel stays as necessary to get elite night credits or points for the level you want to earn. Since many of us don't travel that much, travelers also need to take advantage of the other avenues that hotel loyalty programs offer for qualification.
Here are the most common ways to earn elite status:
Elite night credits: You'll earn one elite night credit for every eligible paid night stayed at a participating property. Most hotel programs also count award nights and "points and cash" stays toward elite status, and you may be able to earn elite night credits with some credit cards.
Stays: How often you stay at one of the hotel's properties. Whether you stay one night or multiple nights, it counts as one stay.
Points earned: Earn points based on your spending at participating hotels. Generally, only "base points" count toward elite status, which generally excludes bonus points earned from status, promotions and other offers. Spending money with partners may also apply, depending on the program.
Credit card elite status: Many hotel and travel credit cards offer automatic elite status as a benefit.
Renewing your credit card: Each year that you renew your hotel-cobranded credit card, you may receive elite night credits toward earning elite status.
Spending on credit card: Some hotel credit cards allow you to earn elite status or make progress toward it based on your spending each year.
For travelers who want Hilton elite status benefits right away, the quickest path is getting one of Hilton's many cobranded credit cards. Even the no-annual-fee Hilton Honors American Express Card includes complimentary Silver elite status, with the ability to earn Gold when you spend $20,000 per year.
For members who don't want to deal with the high spending hurdle, the Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card includes automatic Diamond elite status. While this card has a premium annual fee, the annual free night, high earning power and up to $500 in annual credits more than make up for it for people who stay at Hilton properties regularly.
The information for the Amex Hilton Aspire card has been collected independently by The Points Guy. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.

IHG offers several ways to earn elite status, including when booking award stays using points or free night certificates. However, with the introduction of IHG One Rewards, points earned from credit card spending no longer count toward elite status points qualification.
IHG offers three different credit cards featuring complimentary elite status, including one with no annual fee. The IHG Rewards Traveler Credit Card comes with Silver Elite status automatically and an upgrade to Gold Elite when you spend $20,000 in a calendar year.
Another option for earning IHG One Rewards elite status is to buy an InterContinental Ambassador membership. For $200 or 40,000 points, you'll enjoy Ambassador benefits for 12 months from the date of purchase. This membership features numerous benefits, including automatic Platinum Elite status.

Marriott makes earning elite status simple and straightforward. You must spend nights in its hotels, have a credit card that offers elite status or earn elite night credits from its credit cards.
Nights from redeeming Marriott Bonvoy points and free night certificates also count toward elite status qualification. Its top-tier status is Ambassador Elite, which not only requires you to stay 100 nights, but you must also spend $20,000 at Marriott properties each year. Note that this requirement is going up to $23,000 in 2023.
Chase and American Express offer various Marriott personal and business credit cards that include complimentary elite status. All of these cards include at least 15 elite night credits toward your desired status level, including the no-annual-fee Marriott Bonvoy Bold Credit Card. With the recent upgrades, the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant® American Express® Card now includes 25 elite night credits.
The Marriott Bonvoy Bevy™ American Express® Card includes complimentary Gold Elite status, while the Brilliant card provides automatic Platinum Elite status among other premium benefits. Likewise, business owners receive automatic Gold Elite status when they have the Marriott Bonvoy Business® American Express® Card and can upgrade to Platinum Elite by spending $75,000 a year on the card.
No Marriott card includes Titanium Elite or Ambassador Elite status. However, you'll earn one elite night credit for every $5,000 you spend on the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Credit Card each year.
With Hyatt, you can achieve elite status based on nights stayed or base points earned at properties. When calculating elite night credits, it also includes nights booked with World of Hyatt points or free night certificates.
There are two Hyatt credit cards available – one for consumers and one for business owners. Both cards have unique features that can help you earn Hyatt elite status quickly.
The World of Hyatt Credit Card includes entry-level Discoverist elite status. While this status may not offer many standout benefits, you can spend your way to a higher status. You start out with five qualifying night credits every year, and you'll earn an additional two night credits for every $5,000 you spend on the card.
Business owners also receive Discoverist status with the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card. However, this business card is unique on this list because it allows the cardholder to give the gift of Discoverist status to up to five employees. Additionally, you'll receive five tier-qualifying night credits for every $10,000 you spend in a calendar year. This rate is 25% higher than what's offered by the personal version of the Hyatt card.
You can earn hotel elite status — or at least receive similar benefits — in other ways than having a hotel cobranded credit card. Use these strategies if you don't want to be tied down to one hotel's credit card.
Fine Hotels + Resorts: An exclusive hotel booking program for Amex Platinum cardholders offers elite-level benefits and promotions at premium properties worldwide. This includes things like an on-property spending credit, room upgrade and late checkout.
Visa Signature Luxury Hotel Collection: When you have a Visa Signature card and book through this website, you'll receive exclusive perks at participating properties.
Mastercard Travel & Lifestyle Services: Book a room at any of more than 4,000 participating properties with your eligible Mastercard to receive elite-level perks.
For travelers who are running out of time to earn hotel elite status this year, there's still hope.
Many of the most popular hotel loyalty programs have alternative ways to earn elite status without going on a massive mattress run. In most cases, you'll receive elite status just for holding one of the hotel's cobranded credit cards. If you want even higher status, you may be able to earn it through spending on your card.
When these options aren't feasible, take a look at hotel booking programs aligned with Visa, Mastercard and American Express. They offer elite-level benefits without qualifying or requiring loyalty to any particular hotel program.
