Scammers using federal court identity to trick public - wpta21.com

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) - The U.S. District Court serving northern Indiana is warning area residents of a scam that uses its name to lure in victims.

The Clerk's Office on Friday said it has received word that individuals have been receiving emails informing them that they are subject to a subpoena. The emails include a link that the sender urges the recipient to "click."

Court officials say they never issue subpoenas via email and one should never click on such a link.

Those who believe they have been targeted by the scam can notify the Federal Trade Commission.
