Sam Houston’s game against Southeastern Louisiana provided plenty of highlights but a trick play in the fourth quarter gave the Bearkats a nine-point lead and earned Play of the Week honors.
SHSU lined up in an unorthodox formation with most of their lineman split to the far right side of the field in front of running back Noah Smith. The center and two players lined up in the middle of the field in front of quarterback Eric Schmid while Jequez Ezzard was the lone player lined up on the far left side of the formation.
With the Lions defense expecting the ball to go to Smith on the right side of the field, Schmid instead threw a perfect strike to Ezzard who was streaking down the left sideline for a 30-yard touchdown.
