Brad Marchand's hat trick powers Bruins to 7-5 win over Penguins originally appeared on NBC Sports Boston
The Boston Bruins bounced back from Thursday's 4-1 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins by beating their division rivals 7-5 at TD Garden on Saturday afternoon.
Scoring at 5-on-5 has been a massive issue for the B's all season, and they ranked 30th in 5-on-5 goals entering this matchup. The Bruins had no such issues Saturday, though, as they scored five times during 5-on-5 action.
Brad Marchand led the way with a hat trick (and an assist), giving him a team-leading 17 goals on the season. David Pastrnak (two goals), Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci also found the back of the net. Charlie McAvoy led the B's with three assists.

This was the second time in 2021 that Boston has scored seven goals in a single game. The B's also did it in a 7-3 win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Feb. 21.
The loss halts the Penguins' win streak at five games. Pittsburgh captain Sidney Crosby had three points (one goal, two assists) in a losing effort.

Mark Jankowski opened the scoring just a few minutes into the first period.
Patrice Bergeron ended his nine-game goalless drought with the tying goal.
David Pastrnak gave Boston its first lead just 34 seconds later.
It didn't take long for the Penguins to respond. Jake Guentzel evened the score at two goals apiece on a nice backhand feed from Sidney Crosby.
A pretty passing sequence results in a go-ahead goal for the Penguins on the power play. Jared McCann scored the tally.
Brad Marchand extended his goal streak to three games with this tally.
David Krejci gives the B's another lead with his second goal of the season.
Marchand's second goal of the game came in the final minute of the second period and gave the B's a 5-3 advantage.
The Penguins' comeback effort got a boost with an early third-period goal by Cody Ceci.
Pastrnak put the Bruins back up by two goals with his second tally of the game.
Jaroslav Halak couldn't stop what looked like a very stoppable attempt on net from Sidney Crosby and the Penguins trimmed the deficit to one goal with 1:15 left in regulation.
Marchand completed his hat trick with an empty-net goal.

The Bruins are off Easter Sunday before playing the Flyers in a home-and-home series Monday and Tuesday beginning in Boston.
