Heritage Customs Will Trick Out Your New Land Rover Defender - Motor Trend

Heritage Customs, an automotive design studio based in the Netherlands, will customize Land Rover Defenders according to their clients' ideas and tastes. The Dutch design company is now turning its attention to new Defender models—it still offers fans of the original 4x4 custom options—offering the Valiance customization option with a selection of upgrade parts for personalized styling.

Also called the "carchitecture" service (as in, car architecture), all of Heritage Customs' projects are sketched out in line with customer preferences and then integrated into the Defender and are 100 percent tailored. The one-off 2021 Land Rover Defender 110 P400e pictured here is painted Santorini Black metallic and fitted with 22-inch Space Cowboy forged aluminum wheels, and it was commissioned by TV personality and actor Winston Gerschtanowitz.

For a quick refresher, the Defender 110 plug-in hybrid comes powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with an electric motor and a 19.2-kWh battery. Land Rover's luxury PHEV develops 398 horsepower and 472 lb-ft of torque, transferred to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. As such, Land Rover says the Defender 110 P400e has a top speed of 130 mph and could make a run from a standstill to 60 mph in 5.4 seconds.

Notable changes to this sinister-looking Defender include fender flares, side cladding, diamond plates on the hood, and square-pattern decorative components. All the custom-made parts, including front and rear bumpers, were finished in Santorini Black. The bespoke wheels, specifically designed for the new Defender, are available in a 20-inch or 22-inch size.

The updated interior, reupholstered in black leather, features quilted Alcantara applied to the seats, door cards, upper speaker covers, and dashboard. Off-white contrasting stitching and laser engraved Heritage Custom logos on the headrests add nice touches to the upscale cabin. Moreover, the dashboard, door handles, lower speaker covers, among other pieces, are painted Santorini Black to match the exterior.

This blacked-out Heritage Custom Valiance example makes a bold statement and transforms a regular Defender into something a bit more personalized. Touted as the ultimate expression and aimed at buyers seeking individualization, the Defender Valiance build process takes just under two months. Depending on the extent of customization, Heritage Custom provides pricing upon request and can also help source the underlying vehicle.
