WESTON — Alexa Price netted a hat trick as Elkins blanked Lewis County, 7-0, on Tuesday night.
Price had one goal before intermission and scored the first two of the second half as the Lady Tigers took control after leading 2-0 at halftime.
Layla Fletcher added two scores, while Addy Cogar and Danica Riggins one each.
“We had a little trouble finding the back of the net early in the game, but the girls did a great job of settling into the game and then finishing it off early in the second half,” EHS Coach Scott Cutright said. “There was a lot to play for tonight since the win against Lewis County gave us the (top seed) for the sectional tournament.
“Now we have to focus on our Thursday evening game against a great Bridgeport team and try to make a run for the Big10 conference championship.”
Elkins (11-2-0) visits the Lady Indians at 6 p.m. Thursday.
Both teams are among the top 10 in the WVHSSCA rankings, as the Lady Tigers are seventh in Class AA-A and Bridgeport (11-2-0) sixth in triple-A.
