Loyalsock Township supervisors changed the upcoming Trick or Treat day in October.
What normally will fall on a Sunday night was switched for township Halloweeners in a vote this week.
Instead, the supervisors agreed to holding the activity from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 30, which is a Saturday.
Supervisor John Bower Jr. was who initially brought up the idea for the Saturday Trick or Treat.
He said he was concerned for the
parents and the children because they would have to go to school the next day if the event was held Oct. 31.
“It’s easier for the parents and children,” he said.
Supervisors also scheduled another public activity at the meeting. The fall road inspection tour will begin at noon Oct. 20 and begin at the township building.
In other business, Shannon Lukowsky, the township recreation director, presented her end-of-summer update.
In it, she included information about the community swimming pool.
The pool had an end-balance of $30,478, prompting praise from Marc Sortman, township supervisor and chairman of the board of supervisors.
For the season, the revenue was $134,882 while expenses were $104,403.
The pool’s checking account balance is at $112,781.
Meanwhile, pool maintenance crews are removing trash and doing general maintenance as the pool recently closed. Some pavilion rentals continue to be handled, Lukowsky said.
Dorothy Dolly White Mertz, township tax collector, said 94 percent of the resident taxpayers have paid their annual taxes, with 89 percent paying it by the discount deadline.
