Dog the Bounty Hunter says he's getting tips on Brian Laundrie 'like crazy' — but isn't sharing them with police - New York Post

Dog the Bounty Hunter claims he’s been getting a “crazy” amount of tips in the hunt for Brian Laundrie – but he hasn’t been sharing them with law enforcement.

Duane “Dog” Chapman, who inserted himself into the massive manhunt for Gabby Petito’s fugitive boyfriend last weekend, said he hasn’t been coordinating with police or the FBI as his team sifts through more than 2,000 calls on his personal hotline.

“I guess we kind of do the same thing but I really don’t pay too much attention, like they don’t pay too much attention to me,” he said of law enforcement in a Thursday interview on Newsmax’s “Spicer & Co.”

“After 45 years, I don’t call the police, they’re usually called on me – so I don’t know what they’re doing.

“I can’t call up and say, ‘Hey, G-Man, what’s going where’s your leads?’” he added. “And they don’t call me and say, ‘Hey, Dog, where’s your leads?’ – so I have no idea.”

About 20 percent of the calls about to his 833-TELLDOG hotline are “positive leads,” he said in the interview. But he and law enforcement “work differently,” he noted.

“Now if someone’s in a house and they start firing at us then we call Big Brother and they send the SWAT and the dogs and get the guy,” he told hosts Sean Spicer and Lyndsay Keith. “But I don’t check in with the police officers or the government to tell them what I’m doing and again they don’t check in with me to tell me what they’re doing.”

The former reality TV personality got involved Saturday after law enforcement had already been searching for days for Laundrie, 23, near his parents’ home in Florida.

Laundrie had returned from a cross-country trip with Petito, 22, on Sept. 1 – without his longtime girlfriend. Petito was reported missing Sept. 11 and later found dead in Wyoming.

Laundrie, who remains the sole person of interest in the case, apparently went on the run and was reported missing by his parents sometime before Petito’s remains were found.

There is an active warrant for his arrest on fraud charges for using someone’s bank card around the time Petito disappeared.

Chapman, who has reportedly been shopping another reality TV series, is planning to take up the search again Friday in an undisclosed location, a spokeswoman confirmed. His team hopes Laundrie is brought in “safely” quickly.

“Dog does not care who brings him in, just that he is apprehended,” a statement from his team said.
