NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – A hat trick from Jelldrik Dallmann helped the Purple Eagles (8-9-0, 6-4-0 MAAC) to a 4-2 Battle of the Bridge victory over Canisius (1-14-2, 1-9-0) to close out the regular season on Wednesday.

Dallmann's 14 goals on the season are a single-season record for the Purple Eagles (NCAA statistics date back to 1998) and Niagara went 5-0 in MAAC play at home this season.

Prior to the game, the Purple Eagles honored the class of 2021; Jordan Acevedo, Luigi Boa Morte, Rafael Freitas, Hlaku Gay, Josh Tufino and Goncalo Verissimo.

Game Recap

• Jayson Repine, Rodrigo Almeida and Verissimo all had early opportunities for the Purple Eagles, but all of their shots were saved.
• In the 16^th minute, Gabriel Mikina put the Purple Eagles on the board, heading a beauty into the net to put NU ahead, 1-0. He was assisted by Tufino.
• Dallmann extended the Purple Eagles' lead to 2-0 in the 24^th minute. Mikina earned the assist.
• Dallmann earned a penalty kick for NU, scoring on the kick to give Niagara a 3-0 lead over the Griffs.
• Mikina and Ali Alomari had two strong chances for the Purple Eagles in the remainder of the first half, but neither found its target and NU led Canisius, 3-0, at the half.
• The Griffs got on the board in the 56^th minute, but NU was still in the lead, 3-1.
• In the 64^th minute, Dallmann became the first Purple Eagles since 2014 to record a hat trick, finding the back of the net to put Niagara's lead back at three goals, 4-1. He was assisted on the score by Alomari.
• Canisius scored in the 80^th minute to cut Niagara's lead in half, 4-2, but the Purple Eagles remained in control for the rest of the game to defeat the Golden Griffins and earn the Battle of the Bridge points.

Eagle's Eye On

• This was Dallmann's fourth multi-goal game of the season. He led the Purple Eagles with seven shots and four shots on goal.
• Almeida and Mikina each took four shots and Nuukele Gboe took three. Almeida and Mikina each had two shots on goal.
• Nick Burke (3-5-0) made six saves in the win.

Up Next

• Niagara will finish as the third seed in the MAAC for the second straight season. The Purple Eagles will host a quarterfinal game on Sunday, Nov. 7. Game time is to be determined.
