The top trick to make sure you never forget where you parked your car - New York Post

Every driver knows the dreaded feeling of getting back to car park and realizing you have no idea where your vehicle is.

Standing there, keys in hand, it’s easy to start panicking and wondering if your car has been stolen.

But more likely, you’ve simply forgotten where you’ve parked.

Research has shown that millions of motorists regularly forget where they’ve left the car.

Around a third of drivers, can’t remember where they’ve parked at least once a month.

It’s even been estimated that drivers spend a whopping 35 hours every year scouring car parks and streets for their vehicle.

One man who couldn’t remember where he parked, gave up looking and only found his car 20 years later.

But whether you’re parked in a busy lot, or can’t remember which street you left it it – there’s a very simple trick that will make sure you never lose the car again.

Using the “drop a pin” feature on your phone can save you hours of hassle trying to find your motor.

You’ll need a smartphone to do this, but it’s very simple.

There are a couple of ways you can drop a pin.

Firstly, you could open your map app, whether its the one that comes as standard or one you’ve downloaded, like Google Maps.

Once you’ve got this open and on your current location, tap and hold the point where you are and this should drop a pin.

You can then navigate back to that point.

Alternatively, if you’re with a friend or partner, you can send the pin to them.

Use an app like Whatsapp and select the “share my location” option.

This will give you the option to send them a pin, which you can use to navigate back to.

Be sure to send your “current” location and not the “live” location, as this will follow you around for a set period rather than mark where your car is.

The simple tip can solve a problem which plagues many drivers and some have been raving about the trick on social media.

One person tweeted: “My claim to fame? I remembered to drop a pin where my car was parked at the concert, so when all 18,000 of us left, I made it to my car and the hotel in 15 minutes.”

Another said: “I always drop a pin on my phone map and take pics of the level so I can find my car again. Doesn’t stop the anxiety thought.”

It’s not the only common problem, drivers can easily solve.
