Chucky Made a Triumphant Return in His Own TV Series and Will Be Back Later This Year

While it has been a little while since the original Chucky appeared in The Cult of Chucky, the doll was revived again for his own series, Chucky, which aired last year to praise from fans of the franchise. Featuring Brad Dourif as the voice of Chucky, and bringing back franchise stars should as Jennifer Tilly, Fiona Dourif, Alex Vincent and Christine Elise McCarthy, Chucky was a treat for Child’s Play fans who were left disappointed by the 2019 reboot.
Coming from franchise creator Don Mancini, Chucky allowed the writer/director to delve into the history of Chucky’s murderous spirit, Charles Lee Ray, something that has wanted to do for some time. Before the series’ first season making its debut, Mancini said:
“Exploring Charles Lee Ray's origins has been something that the fans have wanted to see and have been asking for literally for decades now," Mancini said. "And one of the reasons I was excited about taking the franchise into the medium of television was because having so much storytelling real estate, eight hours of Chucky, that provided such a great opportunity for exploring that stuff, among other stuff. But, yeah, so one of the things I was most excited about doing with the show was exploring Charles Lee Ray's origin."
Trick or Treat Studios has perfectly timed their new Chucky release as the doll is as popular now as he has been at any point in the last decade. While collectible figure company NECA has also been teasing their own version, along with a life-sized Tiffany doll, they have definitely had their thunder stolen by Trick or Treat. You can find pre-order details via the Trick or Treat website.
