Los Angeles Sparks at Atlanta Dream7:00 p.m ET, Gateway Center Arena, Atlanta, GA
Line: Sparks (-3)
Money line: Sparks (-170), Dream (+140)
Total: 161.5 points
Questionable: Kia Vaughn (hamstring)
Ruled Out: Olivia Nelson-Ododa (hip)
Fantasy need to know: The Dream have only played one game, but they looked impressive. Their defense allowed 59 points to the Dallas Wings, and that was enough to pull out a win. Atlanta only allowed nine points and Rhyne Howard led the team with 39 fantasy points. Nia Coffey (64% available) , and Erica Wheeler also had productive games from a fantasy perspective. Atlanta's key to victory is solid defense.
The Los Angeles Sparks opened up their season with two straight wins against the Chicago Sky and Indiana Fever. The Sparks average 83.7 points per game, 1st in the league. They are sixth in offensive rating and fourth in defensive rating in the league with Liz Cambage leading from the front. Nneka Ogwumike has scored 30 or more fantasy points In two consecutive games,. Due to her contributions on defense, Brittney Sykes has averaged 33 fantasy points per game. She is available in 55% of leagues. Even though Jordan Canada arrived late to training camp, she has been averaging 28 fantasy points per game so far. She's available in 67.4% of leagues.-- Eric Moody
Best Bet: Sparks -3. Without enough playmakers to slow down the Sparks' offense, the Dream will be unable to slow them down. Los Angeles will cover. -- Moody
New York Liberty at Chicago Sky8:00 p.m ET, Wintrust Arena, Chicago, IL
Line: Sky (-4)
Money line: Liberty (+155), Sky (-190)
Total: 166.5 points
Ruled Out: DiDi Richards (hamstring), Allie Quigley (knee)
Fantasy need to know: The Chicago Sky started off the 2022 season with a loss to the Sparks on Sunday. Candace Parker produced a well-rounded statistical line with 44 fantasy points and Dana Evans (78.3% .available) scored 24 points. The Sky will also depend on Azura Stevens,(41% available) who stockpiled 24 fantasy points in her first game of the season. Courtney Vandersloot remains a reliable fantasy option despite her eight turnovers in the season opener.
The Liberty began the Sandy Brondello era in Brooklyn on a high note. Sabrina Ionescu led the way for New York with 42 fantasy points and Sami Whitcomb (60.8% available) provided solid all-around statistical production tallying 33 fantasy points. Natasha Howard proved she will be a vital part of the Liberty rotation this season and while Stefanie Dolson's performance was underwhelming , but she did play 27 minutes. Dolson (83.5% available) averaged 7.5 PPG, 3.5 RPG, and 1.3 APG, and shot 40.4% from 3-point range last season with the Sky. -- Moody
Best bet: Over 166.5. The Sky and Liberty will score a lot in this game. In their first game, New York scored 81 points, but their defense allowed 79. In the first game, Chicago scored 88 points in regulation, but their defense gave up just as many. Expect both teams to score, and anticipate a fast-paced game with lackluster defense. Seattle Storm at Phoenix Mercury10:00 p.m ET, Footprint Center, Phoenix, AZ
Line: Storm (-4)
Money line: Storm (-180), Mercury (+150)
Total: 161 points
Fantasy need to know: Since losing to the Las Vegas Aces in their season opener, the Mercury have not played. Skylar Diggins-Smith led Phoenix with 32 fantasy points. With 28 fantasy points, Tina Charles picked up where she left off last season statistically. Last season, she averaged 23.4 PPG. In the history of the league, this was the fifth highest PPG average in a single season. This should be another successful season for Charles. Shey Peddy had 27 fantasy points while playing 29 minutes. As Kia Nurse recovers from knee surgery, this trend should continue. Peddy is available in 96% of leagues. Diana Taurasi scored nine points on 3-of-11 shooting. Brianna Turner and Diamond DeShields, who finished their overseas commitment in Italy, should return Wednesday. -- Moody
To start the season, the Storm beat the Minnesota Lynx by 23 points at home, but a terrible fourth quarter led to a loss to the Las Vegas Aces on the road. It's a good time for Seattle to bounce back against the Mercury after they were outrebounded in the first game. With an average of 37 fantasy points per game, Breanna Stewart is living up to her draft position. Jewell Lloyd and Sue Bird remain must-starts. While Ezi Magbegor who has averaged 21.5 fantasy points per game is also a viable fantasy option. She is available in 66% of leagues.
Best bet: Storm -4.5. The Mercury are a different team without Brittney Griner. Phoenix gave up 106 points in the season opener. The Storm have enough offensive playmakers to run up the score. Seattle should cover the spread. -- Moody
