WNBA fantasy and betting tips for Thursday - ESPN

Each day of the WNBA season, our team of fantasy and betting experts breaks down every game on the slate, making note of everything from injuries and lineup changes to recent trends and more.

All odds are provided by Caesars Sportsbook. Times are ET.

Here's what to look for during today's slate:

Minnesota Lynx at Atlanta Dream
7:00 p.m., Gateway Center Arena, Atlanta

Line: Dream (-1)
Money line: Lynx (-110), Dream (-110)
Total: 160.5 points
BPI Win%: Lynx (50.4%)

Probable: Sylvia Fowles (knee), Jessica Shepard (nose)

Ruled out: Monique Billings (ankle), Nia Coffey (knee), AD Durr (hip)

Fantasy Need to Know: Aerial Powers paced the Lynx in their most recent game on July 22, a loss to the Sun. She led the team in scoring for the 10th time this season. The Lynx rank fifth in offensive rating (102.6) and ninth in defensive rating (104.3). You should start Powers, Sylvia Fowles and Kayla McBride. Moriah Jefferson, who is available in 66.1% of leagues, should be considered for managers in need of a streamer.

Rhyne Howard has been one of the top players for the Dream, averaging 29.5 fantasy points per game as a rookie this season. Howard, Tiffany Hayes and Cheyenne Parker are the top fantasy options for Atlanta. If you need a streamer, consider Aari McDonald, who's available in 68.7% of leagues. Over the last four games, she has averaged only 16.7 minutes per game. I prefer Erica Wheeler, who has averaged 20 fantasy points per game over the last four games, but she is only available in 30.2% of leagues.

Best bet: Dream -1. The Lynx has struggled offensively over the last four games and could struggle with the Dream's stout defense in this game. Atlanta is 6-7 against the spread this season and 2-1 when the favorite. The Dream should cover and get the win.

Seattle Storm at Connecticut Sun
7:00 p.m., Mohegan Sun Arena, Uncasville, Conn.

Line: Sun (-3.5)
Money line: Storm (+140), Sun (-165)
Total: 158.5 points
BPI Win%: Sun (67%)

Ruled out: Bria Hartley (knee)

Fantasy Need to Know: The last time the Storm were on the court on July 24, they defeated the Atlanta Dream. Tina Charles had a superb game with 27 points and 15 rebounds. This is her 12th career 25-point, 15-rebound game, breaking a tie with Lisa Leslie for most in league history.

The Storm rank seventh in offensive rating (100.0) and second in defensive rating (94.8). You should start Charles, Breanna Stewart, Jewell Loyd and Sue Bird. Gabby Williams, who's available in 61.6% of leagues, is firmly on the streaming radar. She's scored 20 or more fantasy points in two of her last four games.

While the Sun are also coming off a win of on July 2th over the Minnesota Lynx. Alyssa Thomas had her third consecutive game with 15 points, 10 rebounds and five assists. That ties Candace Parker for the longest streak in league history. The Sun rank in the top three of both offensive (105.0) and defensive rating (96.6). Thomas, Jonquel Jones, DeWanna Bonner, Brionna Jones and Courtney Williams are the top fantasy options for the Sun. Natisha Hiedeman, who is still available in 83.4% of leagues, is your best streaming option. Over the last five games, she's averaged 23.4 fantasy points per game.

Best bet: Sun -3.5. Last time these two teams met, the Sun defeated the Storm by 11 points. My eyes tell me Connecticut is the superior team. The Sun is 4-1 against the spread in their last five games.

Washington Mystics at Dallas Wings
8:00 p.m., College Park Center, Arlington

Line: Wings (-2)
Money line: Mystics (+105), Wings (-125)
Total: 158 points
BPI Win%: Wings (54.6%)

Doubtful: Awak Kuier (doubtful)

Ruled out: Elena Delle Donne (rest), Satou Sabally (ankle)

Fantasy Need to Know: Washington won the game between the Wings and Mystics on May 17. On July 24, Dallas defeated the Indiana Fever. Arike Ogunbowale led the Wings in that game with 24 points, four rebounds, five assists, and two steals. In terms of PPG, she ranks fourth in the league. The Wings rank fourth in offensive rating (102.7) and seventh in defensive rating (103.4). You should start Ogunbowale, Allisha Gray and Marina Mabrey. Due to an ankle injury, Sabally has already been ruled out. Isabelle Harrison, available in 59.7% of leagues, and Kayla Thornton, available in 81%, are firmly on the streaming radar.

The Mystics are coming off of a win over the New York Liberty back on July 21. Washington was led by Elena Delle Donne, who became the fifth player in league history to record 60 career games with 25 or more point. Alysha Clark, who is available in 60% of leagues, is firmly on the streaming radar since Delle Donne won't be playing on Thursday night against the Wings. Natasha Cloud, Ariel Atkins and Myisha Hines-Allen are also reliable fantasy options for the Mystics.

Best bet: Wings -2. Delle Donne's absence will be a difference-maker for the Mystics in this game. This season Washington has a losing record when she's inactive. The Wings are 4-1 in their last five games against the spread. Dallas should cover.

Los Angeles Sparks at Phoenix Mercury
10:00 p.m., Footprint Center, Phoenix

Line: Mercury (-5)
Money line: Sparks (+170), Mercury (-205)
Total: 167.5 points
BPI Win%: Mercury (67.5%)

Probable: Kristi Toliver (calf)

Ruled out: Rae Burrell (knee), Diamond DeShields (hip)

Fantasy Need to Know: The Mercury and the Sparks last met on July 4 and it was Los Angeles who secured the win. Skylar Diggins-Smith has been one of the top fantasy options for the Mercury this season. She is only the second player in league history with multiple games of 35 points, five rebounds and five assists. Over the last 15 games, the Mercury rank fourth in offensive rating (104.1) and eighth in defensive rating (104.0).

With Diamond DeShields already ruled out of Thursday's game, Diggins-Smith, Diana Taurasi, Sophie Cunningham, Shey Peddy, and Brianna Turner are must-start options for the Mercury. Cunningham is still available in 42.5% of leagues, while Peddy is still available in 80.7% of them.

After losing to the Las Vegas Aces on July 23, the Sparks are coming off an embarrassing loss. Los Angeles' highly publicized offseason addition Liz Cambage terminated her contract with the Sparks on Wednesday. Nneka Ogwumike, Brittney Sykes, Jordin Canada and Katie Lou Samuelson are must start fantasy options for Los Angeles. Canada is available in 68.2% of leagues, while Samuelson is available in 65.6%. Chiney Ogwumike stands to benefit the most from the departure of Cambage. In the last four games, she has averaged 29.7 fantasy points.

Best bet: Over 167.5. The Mercury were impressive in their last game against the Storm, and I expect that momentum to continue against the Sparks. Phoenix ranks first with 89 PPG over the last four games. During the same period, the Sparks have scored 76.3 PPG. The totals have gone over in eight of the Mercury's last 13 games at home.
