WNBA fantasy and betting tips for Tuesday - ESPN

Each day of the WNBA season, our team of fantasy and betting experts breaks down every game on the slate, making note of everything from injuries and lineup changes to recent trends and more.

All odds are provided by Caesars Sportsbook. Times are ET.

Here's what to look for during today's slate:

Las Vegas Aces at Washington Mystics
7:00 p.m., Entertainment & Sports Arena, Washington, D.C.

Line: Aces (-3)
Money line: Aces (-155), Mystics (+130)
Total: 165 points
BPI Win%: Aces (52.4%)

Fantasy Need to Know: The Aces are playing like the best team in the West, and have been the hottest team in the entire league since the All-Star Break. Their five starters, all universally rostered in fantasy leagues, are all playing well and remain nightly fixtures in fantasy starting line-ups. The starters produce so much that the Aces typically don't need much from their bench, but both Kiah Stokes (available in 96.0% of leagues) and Theresa Plaisance (available in 96.9% of leagues) have shown enough signs of late to be noted. Stokes has grabbed at least six rebounds in four straight and five of her last six games overall, while Plaisance scored 13 points in 15 minutes on Sunday. Neither would make fantasy starters in most situations, but if you're in a fantasy playoffs matchup where volume counts and you want to take a flier, both could be considered as potential streamers.

The primary Mystics question for fantasy managers, every game, is whether Elena Delle Donne will play. Delle Donne has sat roughly one game for every two played over the season. She had played five straight games before her last load maintenance day, but one of those games had been prior to the All-Star Break and the other four after. She's played in two straight games since, but the two were back-to-back on Saturday and Sunday, which would potentially make tonight's game her third in four nights. No word about her availability has been released, but if she were to sit, it would open streaming opportunities for rookie Shakira Austin (available in 61.4% of leagues), who often plays well when Delle Donne sits.

Best bet: Aces (-155). The Mystics have played well since the All-Star Break, having won five of seven games with an average scoring margin of +5.4 PPG. The Aces, though, have been on fire, having won eight of nine with an average scoring margin of +13.2 PPG since the break. The Mystics have won both matchups with the Aces this season, but those games were in May and June, and the Aces are playing at a different level right now. I agree with the BPI prediction, and have the Aces as slight favorites. If pressed, I might even give the 3.5 points for more juice. -- Snellings

Los Angeles Sparks at New York Liberty
7:00 p.m., Barclays Center, Brooklyn

Line: Liberty (-5.5)
Money line: Sparks (+175), Liberty (-210)
Total: 163.5 points
BPI Win%: Liberty (57.6%)

Questionable: Lexie Brown (ankle)

Ruled out: Kristi Toliver (calf)

Fantasy Need to Know: The Sparks' most consistent fantasy option has been Nneka Ogwumike. Four of her last five games have seen her score 33 or more fantasy points. Ogwumike, Brittney Sykes, Jordin Canada and Katie Lou Samuelson should be started in fantasy leagues. As a result of Liz Cambage's contract divorce, multiple streaming opportunities exist with the Sparks for Canada (70.2% available), Samuelson (68.4% available), and Chiney Ogwumike (63.8% available).

There is no doubt that Sabrina Ionescu has been excellent for the Liberty. The only players with more fantasy points than Ionescu (1,032) this season are Breanna Stewart (1,111) and A'ja Wilson (1,141). Ionescu and Howard are the Liberty players who belong in your lineups. Your most reliable streaming option is Stefanie Dolson (74.7% available), who has scored 20 or more fantasy points in three straight games.

Best bet: Under 163.5. There aren't many offensive playmakers on the Sparks and Liberty. The totals have gone over in one of New York's last five games. This game has the makings of a low scoring one. -- Moody

Phoenix Mercury at Connecticut Sun
7:00 p.m., Mohegan Sun Arena, Uncasville, Conn.

Line: Sun (-10)
Money line: Mercury (+430), Sun (-600)
Total: 166.5 points
BPI Win%: Sun (77%)

Questionable: Diamond DeShields (hip)

Ruled out: Bria Hartley (knee)

Fantasy Need to Know: Diana Taurasi had a pedestrian game on Sunday, but had been on fire with averages of 27.5 PPG, 5.5 RPG, 4.5 3P, 3.8 APG, 1.5 SPG and 1.3 BPG in the four games leading up to that. Skyler Diggins Smith has been just as hot, averaging 24.2 PPG, 7.7 APG, 5.3 RPG, 1.3 3PG, 1.3 SPG and 1.0 BPG in her last six. Shey Peddy (available in 76.2% of leagues) has quietly slotted in as a third consistent option (and a good streamer, if not outright add in fantasy leagues) for the Mercury of late, averaging 11.3 PPG, 7.2 RPG, 3.0 APG, 1.8 SPG and 0.8 3PG in 34.7 MPG in her last six outings.

Jonquel Jones is still working herself back into shape after missing three games with COVID-19. She has started the last two games, and scored double-digits for the first time in that stretch with 11 points on Sunday, but her production is still down. During those six games, the rest of the Sun frontline have been absolutely eating. Alyssa Thomas has averaged 15.7 PPG, 9.8 RPG, 7.8 APG and 3.0 SPG during those six games; Brionna Jones has averaged 15.3 PPG, 6.5 RPG, 1.8 APG and 1.0 SPG with consecutive strong games even after returning to the bench; Dewanna Bonner has averaged 15.3 PPG, 7.0 RPG, 2.8 APG, 1.7 SPG and 1.3 3PG. All four of the Sun front line are must-starts on Tuesday.

Best bet: Mercury +10. The Mercury are 3-3 in their last six outings, with two of their wins and all three of their losses by double-digit margins. The Sun have only won two games by double figures since June 17, and both of those wins came against the Dream. With Jonquel Jones still recovering from her bout with COVID, the Mercury backcourt playing so well, and the Sun so rarely blowing teams out these days, I'm leaning toward taking the Mercury with the 10 points. -- Snellings

Dallas Wings at Chicago Sky
9:00 p.m., Wintrust Arena, Chicago

Line: Sky (-8)
Money line: Wings (+260), Sky (-335)
Total: 169.5 points
BPI Win%: Sky (71.8%)

Questionable: Candace Parker (Non-COVID illness), Arike Ogunbowale (ankle)

Ruled out: Satou Sabally (ankle)

Fantasy Need to Know: Arike Ogunbowale has been the top fantasy option for the Wings this season. She had 17 games this season with 20 or more points. While Teaira McCowan has played very well over the last three games, averaging 35.3 fantasy points per game. Ogunbowale, McCowan, Allisha Gray and Marina Mabrey are also options for your starting lineup on the Wings. Kayla Thornton (68% available) should be prioritized as a streamer. The Wings rank fifth in offensive rating (102.5), but are seventh in defensive rating (103.0).

Candace Parker has been the top fantasy option for the Sky this season. She is questionable for Tuesday's game due to a non-COVID illness. During Parker's absence, Courtney Vandersloot has filled the void nicely, scoring 42 fantasy points in consecutive games. Parker, Vandersloot, Emma Meesseman, Allie Quigley and Azura Stevens belong in fantasy lineups. Stevens is your most reliable streaming option (48.5% available). The Sky rank in the top-five of offensive (105.0) and defensive rating (97.1).

Best bet: Wings +8. The Sky is the superior team in this matchup, but the Wings should be able to keep it close. Dallas is 11-4 against the spread on the road. The Sky are 1-3 against the spread in their last five games. -- Moody
