CHAGRIN FALLS, Ohio -- For 74 straight years, the Chagrin Falls Fire Department has hosted a clambake, and the 2022 version will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Oct. 22 at the Chagrin Falls Fire Station, 21 W. Washington St.
Tickets are $50 for the clambake catered by Cleveland Heights firefighter Pat Kean.
The clambake is not a fundraiser for the Chagrin Falls Fire Department, but the department does make a small profit. Last year, the $4,000 in proceeds was used to purchase equipment for the department.
Every year, the community event is sold out, with approximately 220 people attending.
Then, on Halloween (Oct. 31), the Fire Department will host trick-or-treating at the Fire Department from 6 to 8 p.m. Approximately 20 firefighters dress up in costumes for the event and the fire station apparatus bays take on a haunted look.
According to Fire Chief Frank Zugan, rescue and fire calls have happened during the clambake and Halloween activities in the past, but it’s business as usual, as four firefighters are always on call 24 hours a day.
