"Today was an excellent performance. It was incredible to finally click on offense and put the ball in the net," said head coach Michelle Voiland. "Lindsey Honhart was up for the call with the hat trick. Second half the team handled a very intense press from Pacific and battled for the victory. Now we focus on George Fox."
Honhart scored all three of her goals within the first 30 minutes of the game, almost single handedly putting the Boxers away. She notched her first goal in the 12th minute when she took a pass from Kayla Gustafson and scored past Pacific (3-3, 0-3 NWC) keeper Kylie Pascual.
Honhart scored her second and third goals a little over five minutes apart from each other. She scored an unassisted goal in the 24th minute and Carolina Gonzalez assisted on her third and Whitman's final goal in the 29th minute.
Chanyn Santos scored shortly after the second half began for Pacific's lone goal.
Hannah Hagler earned the start for the Blues (4-2, 1-2 NWC) and posted two saves in the first half. Emily Badgley came on at halftime and finished the game.
Whitman will look to make it back-to-back wins in their first NWC road games, playing at George Fox on Sunday, Sept. 25. Start time is set for 12:00 p.m.
