Zumwinkle’s Hat Trick Fuels Offensive Outburst - GopherSports.com

MINNEAPOLIS – The No. 4/6 Golden Gopher women's hockey team continued its dominance on home ice with a 6-0 victory over No. 14 St. Cloud State on Friday night at Ridder Arena.
 
After a scoreless first period, Minnesota (13-3-2) blew the game open with a five goal second period. Grace Zumwinkle's two goals in the middle frame were joined by Ella Huber, Abigail Boreen and Emily Oden. Zumwinkle found the back of the net in the third period to complete her fifth-career hat trick. The Gophers outshot the Huskies 

Sophomore Skylar Vetter, the reigning WCHA Goaltender of the Week, made 14 saves to earn her second consecutive shutout. St. Cloud State's Sanni Ahola made 16 saves before being relieved in the second period for Jojo Chobak.  

Quotable 
"A really solid team effort tonight," said head coach Brad Frost. "Our goaltender Skylar Vetter looked really sharp the whole game. In the second period, we were up 2-0 and she made a few big saves to keep the game scoreless." 

"Emily Oden had a big night with her 100th point and first goal as a defender. She's been doing a great job back there and really fulfills our team value of 'devotion' by putting the team first."

Notable
•    With her hat trick, Grace Zumwinkle passes Dani Cameranesi and moves into sole possession of seventh place in program history in career goals (94).
•    With four points, Taylor Heise moves into 10th place in program history in career points (189).
•    Emily Oden's second period goal was the 100th point of her career. She's the fourth active Gopher to reach that milestone.
