Things to Do First

If you're totally new to Diablo, all of the systems and menus that are thrown in your face can be incredibly overwhelming, so we've organized a list of what we think will help you ease in to the Diablo experience.
Unlocking and Using Portals
When entering a new city, be sure to unlock the Town Portal so that you can easily fast travel, check out our quick guide on How to Use Town Portal here. Basically, you'll need to find the Waypoint first to use a Town Portal. These are typically in the center of every major town. Once you've done that, you'll have to unlock it, as shown in the picture below. Once you unlock and use a portal to teleport to a new city, you will receive a warning when leaving town that the portal will close.
If you need to return to town quickly from a dungeon to dispose of extra loot in your inventory and you wish to return to the dungeon, don't leave town. Just take care of your business and use the teleporter back inside the dungeon.
How to Heal
Learning to heal yourself as you progress in the expansive open world is really important. Upon starting on your journey, you are automatically given 4 potions that you may use to replenish health. These can be replenished by speaking to a Healer in town or by activating a Blood Well found throughout the map. Enemies will sometimes drop large red orbs which will also replenish your health pool.
We also have a quick guide on How to Get More Healing Potions!
Upgrading Potions
Potion capacity may be upgraded over time. To upgrade your potions, you'll need access to the Healing Potions Upgrading quest to upgrade healing potions. This is a quest you'll receive early in-game once you reach Kyivashad. Once you have it, you'll need to talk to Veroka. Her location can be found in the picture below. You may also upgrade potions by speaking to the Alchemist in any major town.
This process will require herbs and will also require a specific level to upgrade. Once you reach level 10, talk to an Alchemist in town and select "I want to increase the potency of my healing potion." The potency of your Healing Potion can be upgraded at the Alchemist. Upgrading will require gold and herbs collected from around the world map.
Healing Potion Capacity can be increased by earning Renown in each Region of Sanctuary. Region Renown can be viewed on the map.
