Halloween is less than a week away, and we'll likely see cooler temperatures and possibly some rain.
On Halloween, a cold front will bring a shock to the system with highs dropping back into the upper 50s.
Models continue to flip back and forth regarding rain chances next week for the holiday. At this point, we only have a 20% chance of showers on Halloween into the evening. It does not appear, as it stands now, that the festivities will be affected in any major way. With it being a bit far out still, however, we will monitor for any changes.
As of Thursday, the high on Halloween is expected to be around 59 degrees as a cold front moves through the area, bringing a chance for rain.
In 2019, the Triangle had the warmest Halloween on record with temperatures hitting 85 degrees. The coldest on record was in 1963 where temperatures were as low as 30 degrees.
Halloween activities this weekend should be dry with a warm weekend ahead with highs in the low to mid-80s Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The warm up will continue through Monday before the cold front moves in on Tuesday.
When is trick-or-treat?
Halloween, Oct. 31, falls on a Tuesday this year. Since it falls during the week, a few towns switch trick-or-treating to another day. For the most part, Halloween trick-or-treating is on Oct. 31.
