A dog's love of her outdoor swimming pool has delighted viewers on social media.
Grace, a golden retriever, has become a viral sensation after a TikTok video captured her playful antics in her owner's swimming pool. The footage, posted on June 11 by her owner under @itsmethatmom, has already garnered more than 7.3 million views.
The short clip shows Grace standing in the pool in her Nova Scotia, Canada, home, appearing cold yet unwilling to leave. As her owner narrates, Grace's true motive becomes clear when she paddles further into the water, seemingly inviting her owner to join her, despite the chilly temperature.
"I know she looks pathetic, like she's shivering and she wants to get out, but watch what she makes me do," Grace's owner said. "It's still a bit too cold for me. So I am not going in the pool.
"Come on out, Grace. I'll help you, but then she does this because she wants me to get into the pool with her," the owner added.
Grace, 2, had been in a car accident and has been suffering from arthritis ever since, after some viewers raised concerns that she may have remained in the water due to a joint problem or senior age.
Golden retrievers are generally known for their love of water, and often enjoy swimming and playing in pools, lakes, and beaches. The American Kennel Club (AKC) says that these dogs have a natural affinity for water due to their origins as hunting and retrieving dogs, bred to retrieve waterfowl for hunters.
This love for swimming is not only a trait but also an excellent form of exercise for golden retrievers, helping them stay healthy and active in the summer months.
Grace's antics have charmed viewers across the globe, with 2,200-plus users sharing their amused thoughts on the canine's playful spirit.
One user, @shebeefree, wrote: "Her little tippy taps."
Another, @poppydj2, added: "The way she's standing."
"Gracie is a sweetheart," a third user, @christinib2020, shared.
"She's like 'here, I'll move, and you get in'," another, @username2345509911, posted.
The viewers' sentiment mirrored Grace's owner, who had captioned the post, "little prankster."
