Hockey: Swanson's hat trick snaps Laker girls' winning streak - Detroit Lakes Tribune

Crookston freshman Reese Swanson scored a natural hat trick, which was plenty of scoring power for the Pirates, as Detroit Lakes was heavily outshot and defeated 4-2 in Section 8A girls hockey at the Crookston Sports Center Friday, Feb. 5.

Swanson had the lone goal of the opening period and the first two tallies in the second.

Her game-winner came at 12-minutes, 45-seconds of the second period off a feed by Addie Fee to Swanson in front. Laker goal Leah Honer stopped Swanson’s initial effort but could not kick out the rebound.

DL’s Madison Olson beat the second period horn getting the Lakers on the scoreboard at 16:56 off a Haley Stattelman assist.

Catherine Teidemann added an insurance goal for the Pirates at 3:05 of the third and Stattelman scored the final goal of the game on the power play with an assist credited to Emma Coley.
